I’m legit confused as to why I keep seeing George W Bush’s name mentioned in a positive manner

How??

Do you know how many millions are dead behind the "war on terror"??

They don't care.

To your last points the bush administration had a better handle on foreign policy than Trumps. This administration is accelerating the path of China replacing the U.S. As the top superpower. This argument will hit a lot different when the yaun replaces the dollar as the reserve currency

:ld: How? The Irak fiasco is still producing negative effects. Millions of life were destroyed. And also, by destroying Irak, they put it in Iran's hands.

Also, Russia invaded Georgia under Bush's nose. Bush foreign policy was catastrophic. People tend to forget it because Obama saved the US image in the world.

How are you counting millions? Honestly asking.

I've seen a figure that said 200,000 Iraqi civilians died during our occupation (and yes that is fukked up)

Bush handed out some of the biggest tax cuts for that same group at the time too. The mortgage crisis effected minorities far more. And he was strongly anti-union as well. He even enacted the Taft-Harley Act to force striking workers back to work which ruined their negotiations.

The immediate sensationalism we have today really has Trump built up to be far more than he is. And I want to be clear in saying that this is not some dismissal of Trump's many negatives. I just want to emphasize that if these events occurred today, they'd be dramatically more impactful than most of what we've seen during this administration.

The fact that Trump went through impeachment and not Bush should speak volumes about the differences in narratives compared to then and now.. Ain't like it was that much of a different crowd either. Pelosi was calling the shots then too.

Gotta disagree.

The Untold Story of How George W. Bush Lost China

Good read up imo^. Bush is responsible for leaving the door open.

I'll check it out.

:jbhmm:Interesting post. I guess the whole rose tinted glasses appeal buries these affairs that Bush did during his presidency. Looking back at the two terms, dude had a big machine for him. Hence why most of his policies like what you stated and No Child Left Behind was on the back burner compared to War on Iraq and Katrina being the biggest elephant in the room. You also got to consider that Bush Jr played it safe and moved smarter. He didn't piss off his media outlets (right wing propoganda like Fox News and etc) along with keeping his cabinet in tact. Meanwhile, Trump pissing off everything but his moronic ass followers and being sloppy with his cabinet. Hence why it looks like Trump being the WOAT (which he really is) versus Bush Jr being on the whole "he's alright with me" type of appeal.

Have Bush Jr been coked up like the glory college days and move like Trump during the 2000s, Obama would be a fukking king. We wouldn't have terms anymore :heh:

Imagine thinking starting 2 fake wars that got hundreds of thousands killed is better foreign policy than not starting any new wars.

Bush is getting the benefit of a doubt because of his post presidency decorum (his family has maintained a seemingly friendly relationship with the Obamas).

Whereas Trump is such a egotistical and retarded pig he polarizes people.

With that said, Trump is a more willfully ignorant Bush with less smarter people around him. No Cheney, Rove or Rumsfeld to pull the strings.

So far Bush has been the most damaging president of my lifetime, but Trump is even more dangerous, if that makes sense.

He destabilized an entire region and created reasons for generations of people to fight.

Its not 'just' limited to the Iraq invasion. Look at all that it has caused worldwide.

It doesnt:francis:

Let me clarify: trump's policies of egging on China, escalating tensions with Iran, capitulating to white supremacists, destroying federal safety nets, the supreme court picks, deregulating environmental protections and a apatheich attitude toward ecology, etc is a perfect storm for a Presidency with far worse ramifications than Bushs
