You should have seen times square around that time period, it's crazy to me that it's now some tourist/family attraction.

What's funny though is I will say NYC is better for being safer, but it's losing a ton of it's culture.

Underrated post. I was a youngin growing up in NYC when shyt was already starting to change...but i definitely remember Times Square being way less friendly in the 90s.

On a side note, the subways look so much better. No grafitted up trains, etched up windows, none of them ugly ass red colored trains and shyt :laff: Thats my 2 train :to: I distinctively remember nikkas getting buck fifties for fukking Jansport bags :wow:

It was crazy when u look back on it.

I always said these kids today are lucky. They basically walk around with about a G worth of shyt (phones, ipods, headphones, sneakers etc) be on the train and in the streets and they be good.

nikkaz was gettin got just for bookbags and jackets back then. :snoop:

I bet nikkas from the 50's/60's was saying the same shyt bout yall :birdman:

miss me with that lucky ish.

American hoods are safe compared to Mexico
They just clapped a mexican group out there after they performed just so they wouldn't have to pay em
If rappers were to get caught out there they'll be held for ransom or clapped for the Lolz of it.

That pedo thing about NY is true. :deadmanny:

At my elementary school there was this guy who would stand around the playground before school started or he would sit in a van in front of the school. he used to try to talk to the little kids or get them in his van. Me or my brother never seen him. They said it was a white guy :mjpls:. My school issued a big warning about not letting your kids come to school too early, make sure an adult accompanied the kids to school, or that kids should travel in groups instead of alone. It was crazy.

My Pops Forever RIP
Pedomania was at its peak in the '90s. These gullible ass girls would fall for it every time. They would try to pick up all the girls that showed up early and offer Sour Patch Kids and shyt, talkin bout "I can get you FREE potato chips." and it WORKED. It really worked. That's how we knew which girls in our class were misguided and needed love and all that. It surprised me in no way when I'd get updates about how fukked up their lives wound up becoming.

We traded in our culture for safety. It sucks, especially since I'll NEVER feel safe as a BX resident.

Just about every major city and every city near a major city was worse back then

Back in the early 90s...you not only had crime problems in NYC with the drugs...but Newark and Paterson were hell holes too. The crack era just took a huge dump all over America back then.

Today's NYC is safer, but some neighborhoods have hardly changed. Sure, the crime and the drugs may not be as bad, but the poverty is still pretty real in these neighborhoods. The places that haven't been gentrified look like Stalingrad.
