I don't think he's playing mind games at all. I think its a pride thing. A "pay cut" makes it sound like his skills are diminshed and his elite playing days are over. And they could possibly be. But he's not going to admit that before the season starts.

Kobe's not going to negotiate against himself right now. He'll try to get max of course. He won't.
He got paid in his last deal and look where that got him, a bad attitude and a reason not to be cocky. That's cool if he wants to get his money but don't expect sympathy when it handcuffs the Lakers FO to the point that their free agent targets consist of Larry Hughes and various trash that has been out of the league for 2 years.

If he was willing to take a cheap deal and be a #2 or #3 guy, his chances for another ring would go way up.

I don't wanna hear none of you bytch azz lakers Fans supporting this complaining about the coke heads moves when Kobe is gonna try to eat up as much cap space as possible.

At this point dude needs to go in there and figure out how much he can get keeping in mind that to win in this league you need 2 other healthy/young all star caliber players. If he doesn't do that then all that "the only thing that matters is championships"Or "every year without a ring is a year wasted" talk is just posturing.

This just proves most of you are Kobe fans and not Lakers fans. Cause anybody with common sense knows this is not good for the franchise as a whole.

This is why Tim Duncan>>>>> Kobe.

You are willing to pay a 35, 36 and 37 year old Kobe 20 mil a year?:what:

It's not about the age....it's about how he is playing.

If 35, 36, and 37 year old Kobe is still averaging 25+ points per game, 5+ assists, 5 rebounds, and over 45% from the field.......why wouldnt I?:dwillhuh:

tim duncan let his white wife eat up his money and spend it on her trainer who she was fukking, then he took a paycut while leading the spurs to the finals and letting his owner get richer

kobe isn't the type of brother who's going to bend over and let someone pimp him. a lot of you guys have the sucker gene, kobe doesnt.

it is a gm's job to build a championship team within the rules of the salary cap. when you start suggesting that players take significant paycuts for a shot at winning a ring then what's the point of having general managers at all?
