Be dismissive if you want. There are people that care and will continue to care. This push for change would be much easier if people didn't have this defeated condescending and pessimistic attitude. Do you really think the people that are on top got their alone? Or buy complaining about things over and over? They actually had to work with their communities and decide to present a united front.

what if I told you the only two people they give us every election that have a chance of winning don't have my concerns or best interest at heart? why, then, would I want to vote for either one of them??
You don't. I'm not sure why I'm being asked this question over and over. I haven't said anywhere that you absolutely have to vote. What I have said multiple times is that you should do SOMETHING. If you choose not to vote for whatever reason that's cool, but it would be nice if you at least contributed to some sort of local organization working to affect change. Anything beats typing sarcastic remarks and smilies.

Every election season black people are told how important it is to vote, but we're never told what we're getting in exchange for our vote. Obama got over 90% of the black vote running on a campaign of hope. Not investments in black neighborhoods, not investment in black education, not a promise to tackle the systematic racism in all levels of the private/public sector; but hope.

This is just not true. Obama funneled money to black owned business and farms. The free community college initiative will overwhelmingly benefit black people. Obamacare has overwhelmingly helped black people. And there's plenty more.

You gotta educate yourself beyond the news headlines.

everybody has the right to vote, you also have the right to chose not to, but if you chose not to have your voice heard, than you dont have the right to complain about anything that goes on in politics because you didnt place your vote when you had the chance

Valid concerns, but any politician can just lie to you and get your vote. The reason they are able to lie to you is because communities haven't been consistent. Once a group shows with their money, and with their presence that they aren't going anywhere, then things will change.

You're actually wrong:

How Groups Voted in 2012 - Roper Center

The democrats have received ~85% of the black vote in every presidential election since 1976. We have consistently voted for Democrats in every single election cycle for the last 40+ years. We've been die hard democrats for a long time, and we have nothing to show for it.

The same argument Malcolm made in 1960's can apply in 2016: we're political chumps and the white liberals know it.

So you saying the plight of black people had not improved whatsoever since 1976?

You took the portion that you highlighted in my post out of context. I'm not talking about consistently voting for the same party. I'm talking about consistency in our actions. You have to pose a threat to these politicians before they will bother paying you any real attention. The only way to do that is to present at every important event, show up for every important decision, invest our money wisely, organize and educate our communities, and much more.

Educate and organize our communities to do what? And what actions do we need to be consistent with other than voting?

That remains the main problem. People won't educate themselves & just regurgitate what another person has stated. That's exactly why their is such a high number of misinformed people out here, especially on this site.

Let's say we do everything you mention: we educate our people on investing money wisely, starting businesses, and the importance of voting.

How would that change anything if every election cycle democrats are guaranteed to get 85% of the black vote without giving anything in return?

So are you saying there's been no improvement in black peoples plight since being granted the right to vote?

How much are those improvements are due to us voting? We are still at the bottom on every socioeconomic level in spite of voting, this system aint built for us. If we are not playing the game like the majority, by backing our demands with $ then our vote means jack shyt, worth nothing more than that bullshyt i voted sticker and button that you are so giddy about receiving.

Obama helped one small group of farmers who had already had the process of farmers reforms in progress before Obama got ejected :dead:

Can you name the specific black businesses that Obama funneled money into.
