No one is saying that the system is great and you should actively participate in everything with a smile on your face. You should understand the way these people think though. In this system, your importance is measured largely in part by your voice (Among other things, primarily where you are spending your money). Opting out of voting is understood by the powers that be that you don't care at all about the issues. Again, right now, they see that we care, imagine if they knew we didn't care. If you are consciously opting out then cool, but I hope you are doing other things for the community then because complaining about it online and staying home during elections isn't enough.

Good, I've been a felon since 18 and can't vote. It's the symbolism not that your vote will tip the scale. You should exercise your right for ppl like me and people locked down whose voices have been taken away if you need a reason.
