I'm noticing that people who only can view artists in one genre don't understand Drake

the first rap song i remember hearing was sounds of the police..wu dropped later that year..music to me is entertainment..i love sex drugs and murder ignorant as it sounds..u May wanna hear about his dealing with the side effects of fame..how him leaving girls heart broken in turn leaves him heartbroken...a lot of.People don't. u May wanna take his "rapping" on Ellen ass seriously..i remember u from that megatron thread cryingthat no one rsponds to your awful threads..you're a terrible poster and u smell like p*ssy
You can't even focus on the music though in this mini-rant of yours.

I'll let you compose a more appropriate response in your reply. :pachaha:

Andre 3000 sings and I still respect an album like Love Below. I don't care how far reaching, experimental, or "revolutionary" it was made out to be. All I know is that songs like "She Lives In My Lap", "Prototype", "Valentine's Day", "Dracula's Wedding", "Vibrate", "A Day In The Life of Benjamin Andre" and "Take Off Your Cool" sounded dope to me.

Lauryn Hill sings and I still respect Miseducation for what it is.

Although she's not even a rapper that view as a lyricist, Missy Elliott's albums explore different genres of music, but I still like those.

With Drake, I think his music is dope. I think Take Care is one of the best albums to drop in recent years. Nothing Was The Same sounds like it's a grower, but I don't really like that album as much as I did that one.

I don't dislike drake I just feel like as a singer he doesn't move me and he focuses on that side of him a lot, but when it comes to the r and b side of things i prefer the natural soulful shyt over the studio singers so maybe its a preference thing

Good enough for what? THis nikka outraps most of yall faves. OMG, he used to be an actor from Canada!! Really?! Who the fukk cares. Y'all get pissy because rappers "lie", but a rapper, rapping about what he knows gets shytted on.

Dude can rap his azz off when he snap, does that require me to like this nikka as a rnb singer too:childplease:....why are we not allowed to like songs where he raps and say the ones where he sings is shyt.

Was there some requirement to like songs Ja Rule sang on,or Nelly when he wuz singing,Bone Thugs etc....for some reason Drake fans think him being a talented rapper requires us to like the Rnb shyt too:what:...that's like sumbody havin to like songs where R Kelly rapping talking bout "but he sang the hell outta Sadie:damn:"

We don't gotta like that shyt,Future one of my favorites out and I don't like when he sing whole songs either usually:manny:...they can do it if they want to though but I got a right to say they'd be better if they rapped if I think they rnb singing records TYPICALLY are mediocre imo.

I also feel like at some point people need to get over it:comeon:...at this point u know its going to be a good portion of singing on the record,so I can't understand why some nikkas is so hostile about him singing like they was caught off guard, other than they are just frustrated fans of his rapping who wanna hear dude rap:manny:...and the rest may just not like dude.

People make me laugh like Drake is doing something so different. Missy Did this in the 90's, L-boggie did it, Andre did it. Queen Latifah was also singing and rapping. Bone was singing and rapping and going platinum in the 90's. He's not doing anything revolutionary at all. He just has his formula and he's using it well. This has nothing to with not understanding genre it's about if you call your album HIP HOP then it needs to be that, not a hybrid RnB album. When Cee-lo made the switch he wasn't calling his albums Hip Hop even though he may have had some rapping here or there.

  • He's a bad singer
  • There's no variety in his content as an artist in either avenue
  • Annoying rapping voice
  • He sounds kind of stiff and out of his element when he's spittin'. I don't care how good he is at putting his shyt together in a 16, he doesn't deliver it in a way that sounds convincing, IMO. He and his lacks conviction and purpose is another way to put it
  • Mediocre, stale, routine sounding production
  • He gives off an incredibly fake vibe and it makes it hard to take him serious
Really for me, he's just unconvincing as an overall artist, and I can't relate to him on any kind of level. There's too much corn involved with this dude and his works; He just ain't for me :yeshrug:

Sums him up perfectly. He's this generation Nelly and Ja Rule with better skills

He makes good music to listen to in head phones and other songs for when you are out. Hes not the greatest rapper and of course he isn't the greatest singer but he does both well enough to make a lane for himself.

The only knock I really have with him is his music is starting to get a bit repetitive. It is either wayne-esque bragging or broken hearted jams for many albums and a few years now. He has no real story telling songs that don't involve some ex or songs that really make you think about anything other than an ex. However if you do want to hear that kind of song he does it the best. I felt like he was the offspring of 808s and Heartbreaks but Drake does a much better job at that sound than Kanye ever did.

Honest Objectivity
If you're not willing to lower your guard and let artists vibe between different planes instead of trying to box them into rigid categories, you're not going to understand what you're missing when it comes to artists like Drake.

The Needle Drop and Dead-End Hip-Hop reviews on Youtube are proof of this.

These feature dudes who can't rock with drake "because he sings"...as if that TAKES AWAY from the content of the song itself.

Its like people can't fathom ingesting the music ITSELF rather than trying to focus on how it makes them look for listening to it or what it means for how they've defined what a genre is.

It speaks to an overall close-mindedness.

Same thing with Yeezus and 808s and Heartbreaks.

Some of ya'll are just too stubborn to truly appreciate novel shyt.
Amen!!! Drake haters are so closed minded that they cant appreciate sounds that are new and different. Drake is elevating the genre in his own creative way. Last I checked it was good to be different and original. Call me a stan if you want because im not knocking him for nit following the "recipe of being a true rapper."

I know they've broken numerous mice, keyboards and monitors in frustration. You keep reminding them of how Drake keeps winning

And there's nothing they can about it. :banderas:

How do you explain people that like Cudi and Andre but aren't really feeling Drake? Have you come up with a category for them that reinforces your opinion on him being gospel?
