They have too much positive momentum and success. Also they proved that they can make new star characters and franchises, so now is the time to try to do that. They'll be able to fall back on a few reliable characters like Spider-Man, but also try to build up new ones.

They can still do that with a reboot.

I had dude pegged as being the guy who would eventually be cast as the new T'Challa in Black Panther or with his WB connection getting cast in a DC movie.

Never would've thought of him for Kang and especially not in the next Ant-Man movie.

Good pick-up though.

Be interesting if they stay true to the character's comic book roots or if he'll be Kang in name only.

Yeah, Spiderman, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Wasp, Scarlett Witch, Hulk are all still in play and are beloved ( more some than others). You don't just throw that in the garbage for what will be most likely inferior versions. Blowing up and starting over for when people don't like what is going on in the MCU and it is losing its luster. A reboot just brings the franchise back due to nostalgia alone.

It’s smart on Marvels part as it gives people a reason to care about and want to see Ant-Man 3. Unfortunately, his movies just aren’t moving the needle like that so far.

It'll just be like the defenders, where everybody is like , Hey remember that big green guy? but still continue to operate largely separately from the MCU. At least with a reboot, they can give everyone proper backgrounds and origins without having to explain where they were before and after the snap or during any other major event that happened.

The permanence of the MCU is one of the high points, to reboot and rehash over all that shyt again would be terrible.

They don't have to be vague, you can put Mark Buffalo, Chris Hemsworth Tom Holland etc. in any movie you want. That's printing money!
And any writer/director can come up with whatever they want to explain whatever is relevant to the current project.

Feige said after End Game that there wouldn’t be “phases” ending with an Averagers style team up anymore. There will be cameos.

if Ant Man 3 also introduces Fantastic 4 then I’m all for it.

Nah because now you're expected to drop the new Iron Man, Capt. America, Hulk, etc. and if you have a new universe that doesn't have them in it then people are gonna push you to do it. In this universe they're already established and it feels like they've done enough, but they can bring them back at anytime if need be.

In a new universe I doubt guys like Shang-Chi and the GotG would get any burn until like 2035 because they would be so busy rehashing their main moneymakers

Stan Lee appeared in all the films, he's dead now.
Chadwick got to be in 4 films, he's resting now too.
Most of the avengers have written out of the series now.
You still gotta juelz a reason for Wolverine to be 200 years old but somehow never popped up during all these years. plus introducing all the other mutants
If you gonna recast everyone and stretch to make logical plot armor at the same time may as just start fresh.
This was a great run and end game is a perfect stopping point.

The stories haven't been some groundbreaking art to date EXCEPT for the fact they are all connected. That's the best thing the MCU has going for it. To throw that away is just dumb especially financially speaking.

They already reintroducing all the same characters though. There's a new Cap in the Bucky Falcon series, They doing a SHe hulk series, Vision is coming back in Wanda, They're bring in a New Thor, and and New Hawkeye.A New Black widow has been confirmed. That's a new version of all the original avengers confirmed except Ironman, who they basically made Spider-man take up the mantle for. All they have to do is the same exact thing they doing now but with less baggage.
