I'm amazed at the amount of daps his post got. It's like half the people on this site don't like the music. Why are any of us here?

I love the actual Classic Hip Hop. I have become attached to this site over the years. I actually have enjoyed the fukcery of Contemporary Rap more than the actual music. I end up reading half a dozen stories about these idiots before I Youtube them... then hit "X" within 60 seconds.

Homie played logic's under pressure in the car yesterday. Beautiful album. Reinvigorated my love for the genre.

I won't ever leave hip hop. There's just times we don't talk as much and I need to stay at another genre's house for a week till we stop fighting. 2014 was one of those years.

With KRIT and Budden dropping recently(yet to listen to either but heard great things) Cole dropping next month, lupe and Joey badass dropping January, and Wale dropping soon after that, I was on my way back to hip hop anyway.

I'm just real particular. Can't get with the poison lyrics. Gotta be saying something of worth - preferably progressive.

breh....:patrice:

why do nikkas feel like they HAVE to listen to new shyt? i have an external HD full of all the shyt i like from the 80s 90s and 2000s...

every now and then something will come along that interests me...but otherwise im good pulling out some of my old shyt and listening to it....:sas1:

and im 40...so imagine what i feel about todays music :mjpls:

i hear you

i didn't feel like i had to listen to new stuff however it's cool too because sometimes you find and discover somethin' new that's refreshin' and it makes for a great experience when the music is great. plus it keeps you in the loop of what's goin' on. but i always kept the classics (80's and 90's) hip hop music in rotation

but i've kept my ears open to everythin' in hip hop; from the mainstream to the underground and i've just grown tired all of it:yeshrug:

What do you like terms of old school artists? I'm just like you, I can bump Mana (Mexican rock band), Prince Royce (Bachata), Blue in Green (Jazz), Pearl Jam, One Day by UGK, and finally new Big Krit since I'm a big Houston/South rap fan. ASAP Mob, Black Hippie, Kriko Bangz, Krit, Logic are all good starting points IMO.

I respect your opinion I keep an open mind to new hip hop stuff too.

old school artists as in what genre?

thanks for the respect, i appreciate that :myman:

I wish more people gave Logic a chance.

Also, if in reading correctly the guy who made this topic says he's been disappointed with hiphop going on 20 years now.

Dozens upon dozens upon dozens of great albums, songs and artists have debuted in the genre over these last two decades. If you can't find any gems within a 20 year span then that genre ain't for you.

In the Silver Lining
it ain't got that same excitement it once had. for me, listenin' to it now has became almost like a chore just to find somethin' new and even when i do find somethin' new and kinda of cool, it only sticks to me for like a minute. it ain't got no "stayin' power" as barry white use to say. hip hop is stale and played now (has been for close to 20 years) but it's now to the point where it's just flat out a parody of what it once was :camby:

:whoa: ...easy...... I feel on the current times.....but 20 year is a stretch breh....... check out the link in my signature...you get some fresh hip hop jazzy beats to keep your love of the artform alive..and some ok MCs too..

Then again i'm :old: ... 30 ain't the new 20...just got to ride it out..
