Ocelot got his hand chopped off in MGS1 by Cyborg Ninja.
He replaces his entire arm with Liquid's right arm. The arm starts to take over Ocelot's mind making a split personality that's Liquid Snake. So he's Liquid Ocelot now.

Old Snake beats the Liquid personality out of Ocelot at the end of MGS4.
