All these new "r&b" cats dont do anything for me.:scust: Its not R&B that i know it to be. TO ME, R&B sounds like this:

Take note of the spirit and energy of the songs posted.

If i hear a so-called R&B song and it sounds like Drake, Lil Wayne or 2Chainz is about to start rapping at any moment.....ITS NOT R&B. If there's a certain amount of vulgarity (i prefer none period) its not R&B. I dont know what yall call this new stuff, but its not R&B in my book. I want my R&B music to exude sensuality and love. I want my R&B singers to express their love for women. And above all else, I want my R&B singers to actually SING!!!!!:mindblown:

This is the core of the problem right here. You cant express your love for a woman today without being viewed as "soft". Its almost like a reverse psychology trick by the powers that be to get the black man and woman to hate each other:ld:

I got more faith in todays r&b than rap but yea that, motown, and the soul musicans like luther gonna be hard to replicate.

I said this time and time again the decline of the black church , black community and school bands and older black music mentors was going to be the reason R&B sucks now. Nearly all of your favorite singers from the past Sang or played in the church or played or sang at an early age and learn from a family member/ mentors. The decline of R&B was the consequences from the decline of black churches and communities. We gonna learn the hard way if y'all insist.

the thing is, there may be another "Luther" out there somewhere, but there's no incentive to making that type of music anymore. If a young, aspiring singer wants to make it in music today, he or she LITERALLY has to make stripclub music. Take Trey Songz for example. He's highly talented and a great singer to me, but alot of his music caters to the club. He HAS to make that type of music to get radio play and remain relevant. Usher and even Tank has fell victim to this also:

Like i said, there's no INCENTIVE to making soulful ballads anymore. A few cats may be able to gather a following and be able to make a living off of their music, but for the most part singers today have to make "club" music to gain a fanbase.
