the thing is, there may be another "Luther" out there somewhere, but there's no incentive to making that type of music anymore. If a young, aspiring singer wants to make it in music today, he or she LITERALLY has to make stripclub music. Take Trey Songz for example. He's highly talented and a great singer to me, but alot of his music caters to the club. He HAS to make that type of music to get radio play and remain relevant. Usher and even Tank has fell victim to this also:
Like i said,there's no INCENTIVE to making soulful ballads anymore. A few cats may be able to gather a following and be able to make a living off of their music, but for the most part singers today have to make "club" music to gain a fanbase.
