At least they acknowledged A.J. wasn't cut out for the mob life and they didn't even try to write him as if he knew what he was doing. That's one thing I like about The Sopranos. The stupid characters don't progress in that life and when they make bad decisions, they get punished for it. The one time they had A.J. do anything related to crime (his attempt to kill Uncle Junior), he failed. His friends convinced him he had to do it when they had no idea what they were talking about and Tony wasn't impressed at all. He told him the reality: If they didn't have connections, A.J. would have been charged with attempted murder and most likely convicted.

If Tariq tried to kill someone who shot Ghost, he would have succeeded.

He did, the problem is he money was tied up an invested in so many different ventures.
That's why when he needed cash mediately he robbed his own stash house for that million.

And nobody carries around millions of dollars, if you went to the bank an even wanted to cash out a couple 100k it would take a day or so to clear cause most transaction over 100k will cause a bank In house investigation to make sure everything is clear, that's when you really need large amounts of cash on hand you go to different sources or barrow
