These threads do always perplex me though, if you wanted to get into a sport, football is definitely the easiest. It just takes some time and actual looking into.

I've been trying to get into other sports e.g. F1, darts, table tennis, NBA. Not that easy. The sheer amount of resources dedicated to football is staggering.

All you need is a ball, jumpers for goalposts. shyt at school we had to use a tennis ball.

soccer is definitely easy to play with limited resources but...

from my experience, in pickup games certain skills are not utilized, either at all or to little extent.

for example, in pickup games, if u got a powerful shot, good heading skills as well as tackling ability...and even good crosses...chances are none of those skills will get much utilization when youre trying to pass the ball in little space and literally score with your ass in an empty net after passing

why do all us americans gravitate towards arsenal?

The answer is simpler than you think. "Arsenal" is a badass name for a sports team, and Americans like things that sound badass.

Personally, I chose Liverpool out of respect to The Beatles :youngsabo:

:ehh: makes sense, though TBH one of the reasons I originally liked arsenal was I really liked the yellow away kits (think it was the first one after they switched to fly emirates)

To be honest, while heading and having a powerful shot are good attributes to have....in a real match if you cant get yourself into positions to use those skills you are useless. Small sided games are where legends are born.

positioning is everything, but all Im saying is that technique is heavily favored in most pickup games. if u can head the ball well for a striker/CB thats usually not tested well...same with crosses.

Im not even talking about myself either...personally I dont have a great shot but Im good in little space and can use both feet well for quick passing.
and my positioning is good for a defender

all Im saying many pretty vital skills get underutilized in games where its not regular sized field and 11vs11 and all that.
