Sounds like a lazy christian who doesn't have the discipline to live by the strict, often contradictory rules set forth by the authors of your holy book...........like 99% of every "spiritual" or religious person living in the secular world
According to you, life has no meaning unless you believe in a higher power (
a claim that an actual deist wouldn't make), and yet, religion is the only thing that assumes to know how that higher power wants you to live and how to act, so how can you claim NOT to be religious?
K, Im home.
1. If the rules are contradictory, it wouldn't matter how disciplined you are. You wouldn't be able to live up to them. Unless you pick amd chose which rules were important.
2. I already discussed this in my last post.
3. I'm not religious because I don't follow an standard set of rules. I have a personal journey where my beliefs are able to grow, shift and change. I believe in a creator. Whether evolution or the Big Bang something started creation. I believe that we have a purpose but it may not be a "great" purpose. Companionship, procreation, etc.
Like a bees purpose is to pollinate flowers, spiders purpose is to maintain the population of pest-like bugs. Mosquitoes purpose is to be food for other organisms and whatever else.
We may fulfill our purpose just by existing and interacting with others however if I don't feel I have a purpose, I have no motivation to live. Belief in a higher power is what gave me that motivation and that was the main point I was making in my original post.
I said atheist or bitter or Debby-downers or whatever, because it's usually them who have to say something negative to believers. Why can't we just live and let live as long as no one is getting hurt? If I want to thank God, the universe or my lucky underwear for getting me thru the day, why is that a problem?
