:dwillhuh: :whoa: Cinnaslim, from reading your post I always thought you were way more mentally tuff then this. If it came out tomorrow there was no God you would kill yourself?:dahell: you do know there are people that believe in God and they still kill themselves right?.Since non-believers don't subscribe to an afterlife, this is the only life we have, so we literally have EVERYTHING TO LIVE FOR lol. Also you don't need to BELIEVE your life means something when you KNOW your life means something. Please tell me you haven't been walking around not KNOWING your life means something? Oh yea by definition Buddhist, Janist and other eastern religions are atheistic in that they don't believe in a creator god. But I don't think you would say those people don't have a purpose or find meaning in life?

Buddhists and other nontheistic religions usually have a goal. To reach nirvana, enlightenment, higher consciousness/frequencies etc.

Im talking mainly nihilism.

If life had no purpose and meant nothing why put yourself through the pain? Im not saying Id immediately off myself.

Life is cruel. If it came to the point where there was nothing but pain and no reward, where I was just a burden to people, and then to find out its all for nothing. Id sacrifice myself to make their lives easier or to return to a simpler live form like just atoms trying to stabilize or let my body be food for other organisms.

Well, for 1 thing: your post suggests that a major reason for believing in a god and after life is the reward of that after life. So really, what you're saying is that the only reason you abide by religious dogma is because you have been offered a bribe of a better life after you die. Is that really the way to go through life? Maybe for some people, but it doesn't make anything true.

And to answer this question people have about atheists not having a purpose in life because they don't believe in an after life....

That an atheist doesn't believe in an after life is more motivation to make the most out of the life he has right now.
It doesn't make life less meaningful.
It makes it exponentially more meaningful.

You don't just believe in "god"...you're a christian.

Just stop dancing like you're being open minded to this religion thing when you're not.

Thats what I get from that post also.

Most likely OP is lazy, intellectually. Athiesm is sometimes useful in that it allows you to explore and seek out better information. But if Christianity is what you came up with, most likely you stopped at the first book you opened.
I'd guess that information wasn't heavily involved in this decesion at all... Most likely someone died or your girl left and now you found "God" or whatever.

If you don't know the difference between the Abrahamic Faiths (Christianity/Judiasm/Islam)... don't understand the difference between theism and deism... think Wiccans worship the devil... have never seen the word Rael... can't explain why your religion is actually a religion and not a cult... or you say things like you "don't agree" with the actions taken by your priests/bishops/clergy when they rape kids or say gays are going to hell or whatever it is they are in the news for that week... then I'd say you are in the wrong religion because you don't know enough about religion to even identify the correct one(s).

Good Luck to you though.
I still wish you the best.

Different strokes for different folks

I used to be alot happier when I was a supposed atheist because before I believed in a wrathful, vengeful jealous creator God with no redeeming qualities. I never believed that God was loving, merciful, altruistic or kind.

When I did start believing again, my old beliefs in an ignorant judeo christian christian god were just reinforced even more, but for some reason Its easier to accept now maybe because of age. But as long as god is in my life, Ill never be free again

Personally, Im a very selfless person. I care for others. Im spiritual but not dedicated to any religion, even tho I was raised Baptist.

I'd be content living as any lifeform since I believe everything is connected. Circle of life and that jazz.

I do believe in a creator/God/source/spirit.

Sounds like a lazy christian who doesn't have the discipline to live by the strict, often contradictory rules set forth by the authors of your holy book...........like 99% of every "spiritual" or religious person living in the secular world:upsetfavre:

According to you, life has no meaning unless you believe in a higher power (a claim that an actual deist wouldn't make), and yet, religion is the only thing that assumes to know how that higher power wants you to live and how to act, so how can you claim NOT to be religious? :why:

I been an atheist for a long time....always bitter, angry, empty and cynical about everything, no emotional control, always self conscious and always lust after money and women...

started getting spiritual slowly again...it feels good too have faith in a higher power.....now i have control over my emotions, I'm eating better, I'm dedicated too my trade, my confidence is higher, my goals in life is no longer about sex, money and the approval of other people.

I'm also giving up gangsta rap music, shyt is evil and I can stomach it no more....I don't agree with any of it

I feel @ peace for the first time since I was a child. I think all ppl should become spiritual, this world is about too be destroyed IMO, so I think we all need too repent and make peace with yourself or with whatever god u may believe in
enjoy your newfound blissfulness
