The point is, the word you use is a derivative of a word that was not American to begin with. So it's pointless to say it's an American word, when really it's just an adaptation of a word that existed overseas before it ever saw the Americas.

You can't tell us not to use the word "nikka", since the word was originally used to reclaim the power and pride we have lost as African people. We're all black (or at least, I THINK we're black ) so we would all be called ****** by the racist white man of a few centuries ago. After all, it's not like there's really any visible difference between AAs and West Indians, or even Africans for that matter. WE'RE THE SAME PEOPLE.

As for myself, I'm a white dude and I don't use it. I live in the UK and most black people out here don't use it either. Its an American thing. Even the black dudes that use it out here, they just trying to be American. Its not natural venacular out here like it is in the US.

As for Jamaicans using it and not having been through slavery, I'm pretty sure they have. I could be wrong. One of my Jamaican friends from back in the day told me, the reason Jamaicans seem so aggressive at times is cause they went through a form of slavery that was particularly vicious. I'm not 100% sure, but I remember my friend telling me something like that.
