what i always found cool about anime is that whenever it's about a specific subject, they actually educate you on the science behind it and the main character is always dedicated as fukk to learn or happens to be a prodigy. to the point you feel like doing that shyt.Ima give you some good short ones 12-24 eps. I've watched A LOT of anime in my time.
Sakamichi no apollon/kids on the slope (one of the best anime I've ever seen. It's a slice of life anime.. like regular school kid shyt but it's amazing. Has to do with jazz and music too).
Code Geass (saw this many years ago and I marathoned it, freaking awesome!). two seasons around 24 eps each
Ano hana (sad ass anime that you will also marathon) 12 or so eps
Attack on Titan (someone else already mentioned and it's great). first season is about 25 eps.
Terrar Formars (recent anime where a bunch of people undergo a surgery to get super abilities and travel to mars fighting beasts that mutated from cockroaches to create a virus antidote. It sounds kinda stpuid but the first season is amazing. Second season a different studio took it up and changed the animation, voice acting etc so it wasn't as good but still watchable).
Food wars (it's a cooking anime show and it will make you want to eat high quality 5 star restaurant food. Also it makes you hungry and want to learn how to start cooking like a boss).
Hajime No Ippo (boxing anime. The fights are amazing and the comedy is unmatchable compared to any other anime I've watched). It's a long series and has multiple seasons though. shyt inspired me to take up boxing.
Parasyte the maxime (another amazing recent short series. Kind of a thriller).
Tokyo Ghoul seasons 1 and 2. (yet another amazing recent short series).
Trying to give you more recent ones that are really good.
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Outlaw Star
Baki The Grappler
Ippo Rising
Desert Punk
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Ergo Proxy
Planetes
Akira
Ghost In The Shell (Movie)
Street Fighter II V
Attack on Titan
Claymore
Combine these two and you're off to a good start. But watch Code Geass first.Ima give you some good short ones 12-24 eps. I've watched A LOT of anime in my time.

yeah if not done right it can be annoying though.what i always found cool about anime is that whenever it's about a specific subject, they actually educate you on the science behind it and the main character is always dedicated as fukk to learn or happens to be a prodigy. to the point you feel like doing that shyt.
like Ippo goes DEEP into the sweet science.
Slam Dunk - basketball.
One Outs - Baseball
Initial D - Racing cars
haven't seen Food Wars yet but i could already imagine
they get very technical with their shyt.
