Still would get bounced in the 2nd round
Took the defending champs to 6 games their first year in the playoffs(almost forced a game 7 if Pau didn't tip that shot in), then lost to the eventual champs in the WCF,then lost to the Heat in the finals.

That squad was trending upward, the front office blew it big time.

nope. Extensions came up and tough choices had to get made.

Unless Harden's a big that lives to play in the low post, I don't see how he's the missing the link that put them over the top, especially since he was just gonna be Thabo's backup again

That Perkins trade changed the fate of the franchise forever.

If they don't trade for him and sign him to an extension, they woulda had more $$$ to resign Harden to a more favorable deal.

:what: they offered him a favorable deal, just not a 4 year max.

Harden draws one of the most bipolar reactions on this board.

:comeon:

When you have the opportunity to lock up arguably one of the best (if not THEE best) 2 guards in the league who ONLY 24 years old you do it. And you definitely don't try to short change him.

Like @Stinky Diver pointed out. The ownership is CHEAP. And the Perk extension was one of the WORST things the team coulda done, since it kept them from offering Harden the max. The emergence of Adams also drives that point home.

Like how can you logically try & spin a situation which set that franchise back? :mindblown:

the same SG they didn't even start (and likely wouldn't have started anyway?)

and calling the owner cheap while bringing the bloated Perkins extension is kinda contradictory in of itself. Not the most prudent way to spend your money, but a team with 2 max guys, Perk and Ibaka making serious coin can't mean you're cheap. Just cuz they don't have Prokhorov money doesn't make them cheap.

and you forgot to mention, without the Harden trade, Steven Adams is not on the Thunder.

How many people constantly shytted on Brooks for doing this tho? It was fukking stupid then and its stupid now. Harden was their best playmaker, he should've been starting

Breh, the ownership thought 4 yrs 36 mil was a bargain for a dude they perceived could supposedly still produce a double-double a night while keeping the Bynums and Gasols in check.

They didn't have the foresight to see Perk was :flabbynsick:, Bynum was on his way out with knee problems and Gasol was regressing

They coulda drafted or signed anyone decent for much less to fill the gap at center. Look at Miami. How :flabbynsick: their center situation has been. Yet they have TITLES.

Harden off the bench means NOTHING if you're giving him 35 minutes a night and allowing him to tear up the opposing team's second unit. Neither Lamb or Reggie Jackson have been nearly as effective as dude was at that. Harden was a top 20 talent BEFORE the trade. You don't let someone like that get away.
