I don’t buy the idea that LeBron benefited from his father being absent. If anything, I think LeBron would’ve been even more of a killer, on the court, if his biological father was strong and supportive (see: Jordan, Tiger, et al). Ain’t no way someone as supremely talented as LeBron getting locked up by JJ Barea if his father is watching in the stands.

It’s true his father lost but not because Lebron became what he became. Any father who abandons his son no matter if he is great or not, lost. My son may grow up to be the most regular dude in the world but he make me a winner every day.
