X damn near was on Bad Boy lol. He was on Mase debut album twice, and on one of the lead singles. Was on the Lox debut single on Bad Boy. Mase is in DMX's debut music video.

Ruff Ryders and Bad Boy is damn near connected. Between the fact Mase was signed to Ruff Ryders management and was basically an honorary Lox member, Dee and Waah came in through their connection to Heavy D/Mount Vernon, their pops being best friends with Diddy.

There's a lot of Bad Boy/Ruff Ryder cross over

Diddy having DMX on Bad Boy would have been like a Pitbull being neutered.. wearing Versace suits and rapping on obscure 80s samples.

It was a blessing that Def Jam scooped him up though

If he signed to Bad Boy, the shiny suit era would have extended by a couple years, and someone else would have changed the game(50 Cent) and he would have been wanting to leave Bad Boy.

Imagine Diddy straight up RUINING the Intro to “Dark”

“You know what I’m saying these Bad Boy nikkas”

“Take that, take that”

“I heard, they supposed to be you know LOCKING DOWN THE INDUSTRY”

*gay ‘haha’ laugh*

"Puff reaction to dmx was he was talented but unmarketable under his label brand / vision". Music wise theres countless dope collabos between the camps. X would of struggled creatively same way the lox did.

It came to be that the ruff ryders movement along w Jay was doing changed the movement of hiphop from shiney suit back to street-hop.

I get that DMX is the antithesis of what Bad Boy was doing at the time, but hypothetically, if X was on the label, he would've taken Bad Boy out of that '99 slump. Why? Puff was still getting jiggy with it in '99 while the rest of the world had moved on. He didn't get with the times until 2000 when he finally released Black Rob's debut, which was completed in '99 because it got 4.5 mics in The Source in an July/August 1999 issue. My theory is that, Puff having X on the label would have seen Bad Boy on a grimier, harder sound in 1998.
