We've put them in position where it is EASY for stuff like this to happen because the power that enforcement has over them is so total. When a single person is given authority to destroy your life at any moment they want, the ability for the power to be abused is enormous. This isn't some random incident, this is a natural outgrowth of the position they are in.

Because there isn't any connection. There's nothing about crossing the border to get work which makes someone more likely to commit murder. In fact, they are LESS likely to commit murder. However, there IS a natural connection between creating an absolute power dynamic and the potential for abuse. When single immigration agents have that enormous degree of power to determine the course of future for your family, when one word from that agent will destroy the family's life, the the potential for abuse it greatly heightened. If you had ever worked with the undocumented community or had friends that did you would know that they are subjected to serious abuse from law enforcement and employers on a regular basis due to this dynamic.
