5 star thread and idea.

soon as you turn 18, they throw you out there to drown in college debt, then a bunch of credit card companies stalk you

thats how the system is set up. get you as early as possible

I'm telling you, it's a college-industrial complex.

By encouraging the idea that college= more money without context/a bachelor's being the "new high school diploma", students found themselves having to pony up for grad school loans if they wanted real job prospects in their field of study or things relating to it- and that's not even accounting for the med/law school students

They want to hype up people's creative potential, especially in this STEM shyt, so they can poach profits off of people's innovations and efforts regardless of whether they actually earn the means to continue buying into it or not.

Intro to economics first half of the year, followed by personal finance second half, kinda like how they did gym/"health" freshman year at my HS. Curriculum should include:

  • Basic overview of market economy/ our consumer and debt driven society
  • Intro to different types of assets/investments
  • Profile of current data regarding income/wages/typical consumer
  • Student loan and loan debt

I say it's mad irresponsible that schools are behind all this STEM talk, acting like you're gonna live in a van down by the river if you don't learn all the subtleties of a right vs scalene triangle, but want to push students out the nest with basically zero real world financial knowledge, shyt is :scust:
:troll: How they gon' produce the world's greatest debtors and consumers?

Went to high school in a very wealthy area of California with a high Caucasian population.

We took Intro Economics the semester after Government.

Had multiple speakers come in and talk about Student Loans, Credit Cards, etc.

:mjpls: :aicmon:

Why do you think Black households' average median income is ~$5,000 while whites are at ~$113,000?

The system is working everywhere.

That's what I thought..... :pacspit:

Eta... the irony that is California economic situation.

Cali especially, given how the property tax laws killed the public schools in the black/latino neighborhoods.

Public schools in Cali rely on non-government community funding for a lot of their extracurricular/nice shyt; what I wish is that some of the black athletes on Cali teams would do is pool some of their money and donate regularly to the groups in black areas, but God forbid that get in the way of their bar tab/next ferrari :snoop: Props to Sherm tho for giving a fukk
