In 2002 only 4 QB's finished the season with a passer rating of 90 or higher.

are people actually surprised about the qb rating thing on here ? :wtf: some of yall even think its a joke.
yall never actually tried to calculate a qb rating yourself ?

theres a reason it's a very spotty tool of evaluating a qb's performance

NFL, NCAA, AFL - Quarterback Rating Calculator

go and input some numbers and play around with it.

QB rating was never flawed. ESPN decided that it was and wanted to make up its own stat.
wait what ? qb rating is an awful metric and so is espn's stat. if I had to choose one though, espn's at least has context to it. qb rating is nearly meaningless by itself- you can just look at completion %, tds/ints and y/a and make a conclusion yourself. that number was made to somehow quantify a qbs play to fit into one value- which is a dumb thing to begin with in a complex game of football

youre like one of the last people on here Id expect to be surprised by this, seriously

you cant have a negative qb rating. to get a qb rating close to zero you need to really fukk up with picks. like peyton manning last week fukk up- he had qb rating of 0 (and qbr of 0.1 :russ:)

As of last week, according to espns rating ryan fitzpatrick was a better qb than tom brady this season. Needless to say, espns stat is a joke.

Anybody who goes by ESPN rating ( a crappy system that's not even five years old) is a joke to begin with

This score can be normalized. Divide the scores of each QB by the highest QB rating that year.

This way we can compare apples to apples.

its a shyt stat either way. I never use either qb rating to argue my points. one can articulate anything with hard stats that aren't made by an arbitrary formula and then use film to backup context (which is what espn stat tries to eliminate, like a short pass to a RB who takes it for 50 yards for a TD type of deal)

A qb can play lights out and still post an average rating due to other aspects of the game. You really gotta use your eyes instead of numbers to judge a qb
