In 2002 only 4 QB's finished the season with a passer rating of 90 or higher.

youre like one of the last people on here Id expect to be surprised by this, seriously

you cant have a negative qb rating. to get a qb rating close to zero you need to really fukk up with picks. like peyton manning last week fukk up- he had qb rating of 0 (and qbr of 0.1 :russ:)
im not surprised by it, just think its bizarre that chucking the ball into the sidelines every play generates a rating that far from zero when theres no possible positive outcome other than avoiding a turnover

A qb can play lights out and still post an average rating due to other aspects of the game. You really gotta use your eyes instead of numbers to judge a qb
it also doesnt have to be a qb- any player in football really. for some positions its much more obvious than others, as you cant evaluate a guard's play without seeing film.

football is a shytty sports for hard stats to be the end of it all.

well, any scale has to account for absolutely worst

going 0/20 with 0 yards and 0 picks is really bad
but then you can go 0/20 0 yards and 10 picks, and that is a lot worse.

in that sense, it's correct.

not that Im defending it, lol. just sayin. many logarithmic scales also dont appear intuitive.

Rodgers threw for 4 tds and 369 yards last week. How is that not hardly good? He played below average in the first half but stepped it up in the second. There's rarely any time where a qb plays all four quarters lights out

missing throws the entire game, holding onto the ball too long, and not planting his feet and throwing at the ground of his receivers all throughout the game. he had one good drive to start the third and then again disappeared until the game was out of reach, at which point he put up a lot of yards against a pretty passive panthers team. Literally you just did what I described by looking at the stats and telling me he had a good game, but if you actually watched the game it wasn't all that great of a game by Rodgers except for a few good plays that went for a lot of yards.

I remember reading somewhere that the people who created the formula put a premium on not turning the ball over above all the other factors.

Has ESPN ever released just what exactly QBR is determined by? cause that type of fukkery has to be explained.

"Throwing it in the stands" is a better outcome over throwing it at Josh Norman is because:

-You throw it in the stands twenty times: At least you get to punt on 4th down and gain that 40 yards of field position

-You throw it at Josh Norman twenty times: You risk the chance of an int, which could result in immediate points for the opposing team (pick 6), as well as a loss of field position

are people actually surprised about the qb rating thing on here ? :wtf: some of yall even think its a joke.
yall never actually tried to calculate a qb rating yourself ?

theres a reason it's a very spotty tool of evaluating a qb's performance

NFL, NCAA, AFL - Quarterback Rating Calculator

go and input some numbers and play around with it.
This shyt makes no sense. I played around and games where the QB completed like 35 of 40 passes for 400 plus yards with 4 tds and 1 pick didn't yield as high as score as one that was more on the lines of 22/25/ 3 td's and 0 picks. While I know throwing for less picks and more yards per completion should mean something shouldn't throwing more pass attempts with more yards and more tds count for something too?

There are poor qbs with good ratings and vice versa. Qbr is a much better stay but even that stat sucks. QB play can only be evaluated with numbers and actual film breakdown. QB rating takes away all context. Short 3 yard dump off taken 90 yards to the house in garbage time has the same value as a 93 yard bomb To end the game which is silly.

Obviously u didnt watch the game. His first half was bad. The second half he started to play better. Again, rarely does a QB play lights out for 4 quarters. You dont come back from a 2+ score deficit based off of poor play.

In 2005 - 8 finished with a rating of 90 or higher.

In 2010 - 13 finished with a rating of 90 or higher including 4 with over 100.

This year 17 QB's having a passer rating of 90 or higher :mindblown:

In the past if a QB had a passer rating in the 90's then he was a keeper. Now, it doesn't really mean anything. If over 1/2 the league QB's have above average QB ratings, why are there so many bad teams?

Because, as others have stated, QB rating is flawed to begin with and it is skewed by the rule changes. Beyond that, contrary to media and stan narratives, there is more to a team than a QB.
