Haha, I remember being in middle school during this time period thinking I'd have my own spot and a baby mama by my mid 20s 
It seems like baby mama culture was VERY popular with the adults in 2003, I was buggin, I didn't even think about getting a wife but having a fukking baby mama 
In my social circle all the Uncs and old heads were married but the Gen X/millennials had baby mama situations
I do remember going with relatives to the public assistance office (my god, it was boring AF there, do not recommend) and that shyt was the biggest motivator to hit them books and not be a broke boi
My future projections got more realistic by my High School years
I realized this whole getting a woman thing wasn't gonna be as easy as I thought

Rent used to be 500 for an average spot in a okay neighborhood. 750 in a more higher end neighborhood. By the time I was able to get my money up inflation already ran rampant.
As soon as I became an adult. Everything skyrocketed. I remember beck in the 90’s, all my uncles and aunts were single and had their own 1 bedroom apartments or even whole houses in NY. Now almost everyone in their 30s has roommates.
My rent in 2003 was $350. Quiet, clean 1 br apt.
