in 2021 Nas is a far superior emcee to Jay-Z

Jay-Z made to much Hov music and got nothing else to rap about. All his music was centered around him and his stories

Nas was the same way back on his first three albums lmao, but he's evolved well beyond that since then which is why he can still make consistent albums, and Jay-Z albums have aged worst than Nas', so he always was the better artist

The problem with Jay-Z shyt is he abandoned the Jay-Z sound him and just blaze came up with, that sound is what elevated pass DMX and all those guys, in the late 90s people were calling Jay-Z the King of NY or any that shyt

THat still nikka song was dope, Jay-Z can still rap, he still sound like jay, he just need to leave those trap beats alone and bring back the rocafella sound just update it, I'm sure Just Blaze got some tech, all they gotta do is the same shyt just make a new version of it

Both rapped at a high level in 2020. That being said I need to hear a full Hov album this year to truly judge where Hov is at. We all know where Nas is at: rapping his ass off, dropping gems, and giving us what we wanted. What's the Hov response gonna be?

The fact that we're having this conversation in 2021, decades after both artists' debuts, is a testament to their greatness. And the greatness of hip hop.

Jay-z was gettin busy on that Electronica shyt, flow and lyrics was all crispy and perfectly in pocket.

Idk, they're both still better than most of their peers...after almost 30 years in the game. Crazy

They gotta carve out a good 3-4 weeks from their schedules this year and give us a collab album yo, this shyt is long overdue. They can Zoom their think tank/writing sessions for the back and forth joints and shyt, lol, make it work.

Jay-Z has already said it won’t happen

@Stringer Cochran Listen, I named my son Sir,
so you gotta call my son, "Sir"

That boy already knighted
he ain't even out his romper

You speaking on the kingdom, you better watch your tongue, sir
I'll send you where you never been, you forget where I'm from, sir?

That gossip I send bald heads, Lou Gossett out the gun, sir
I'm brazy, I'm so brazen, I'm "Raisin in the Sun" sir
:scust:
Isn’t it odd that Jay Z named his son “Sir” after Nas named his son “Knight” years prior?

The obsession never ended.

Jay can still bring it. Personally I didn’t like Jay’s style of rhyming on 4:44

however I thought he was rapping his ass off on the Jay Electronica album.

Nas also still got it lyrically too of course and most rappers voice and flow deteriorate considerably as they get older, but Nas although not mid 90s levels pen game his MC skills still sharp

what I would say is KD reminds me of Blueprint. I wouldn’t say Nas lyrically was at his peak, a bit like Jay on Blueprint. Both let the production and the subject matter do the talking as much as the rhyme skills

Kings Disease is good, there is some real dope moments on more than a few of the songs, but none of them are really due to remarkable rapping. The rapping is good enough, but theres no crazy flows that made me extra hype, no stark poetic imagery, no amazing stories that stick with me, no wild bars to yell out, or quote at all really, its all just good enough. Some grown perspective, some Pro-Black bars, but nothing truly resonant or inspiring in the lyrics department. No cringe bars either tho. Good album. Better than I'd expected to be honest, an improvement from Nasir & Lost Tapes 2.

favorite bar on the album is: "Malcolm X with a check, Closed curtains bytch" good entendre, thats on Dre's verse but I'm fairly sure Nas wrote it. Favorite verses on the album is probably on 'The Cure,' but its more due to the flow, which, again isnt super crazy impressive flow, just good high level shyt.

Kings Disease as a concept seemed to be about the risks of being too well fed, the trappings that come with royalty, not letting that make you unhealthy. Aging gracefully, retaining youth. And so this album proves that he's still in good health, artistically, can still go to the gym, still got it, -- but its not particularly inspired.

Jay & Jay were having a bar fest on Jay Elect's album, way more impressive innovative rapping on that album. But its also a more disappointing uneven album as a whole.

This is just false. Triple Beam Dreams and all those dope features. Plus LIG came out after Distant Relatives and he clearly rapped better on LIG than on Distant Relatives. And he rapped great on Distant Relatives. I wouldn’t look at Kings Disease lyrically and say it was Nas’ best rapping. I just think he floated on it. But if we talking from a pure lyrical standpoint. Jay went in on A Written Testimony. I think the aims for both projects was completely different. Jay was the best thing about A Written Testimony to me. But I feel that album was some mid. While I think Kings Disease was a dope project.
