Kings Disease showed he can still rap his ass off, I’m not saying Jay can’t but I would like another album from him with the same skill set he showed on that What’s Free song.

Some of Nas best lyrical displays have been on features, Kings Disease was more Nas in his storytelling bag.
This is an honest perspective. I think Kings Disease is great. But I respect ur honesty and it sounds like u really put thought into ur response.Kings Disease is good, there is some real dope moments on more than a few of the songs, but none of them are really due to remarkable rapping. The rapping is good enough, but theres no crazy flows that made me extra hype, no stark poetic imagery, no amazing stories that stick with me, no wild bars to yell out, or quote at all really, its all just good enough. Some grown perspective, some Pro-Black bars, but nothing truly resonant or inspiring in the lyrics department. No cringe bars either tho. Good album. Better than I'd expected to be honest, an improvement from Nasir & Lost Tapes 2.
favorite bar on the album is: "Malcolm X with a check, Closed curtains bytch" good entendre, thats on Dre's verse but I'm fairly sure Nas wrote it. Favorite verses on the album is probably on 'The Cure,' but its more due to the flow, which, again isnt super crazy impressive flow, just good high level shyt.
Kings Disease as a concept seemed to be about the risks of being too well fed, the trappings that come with royalty, not letting that make you unhealthy. Aging gracefully, retaining youth. And so this album proves that he's still in good health, artistically, can still go to the gym, still got it, -- but its not particularly inspired.
Jay & Jay were having a bar fest on Jay Elect's album, way more impressive innovative rapping on that album. But its also a more disappointing uneven album as a whole.
King's Disease was awful. Ther only reason it gets love is because it's Nas. If any other legend dared to drop that trash album, people would've lost their minds at how awful it was. Don't get me started on those indie azz beats. Meanwhile Jay Elec's album which was secretly a low key Jay album, was crisp and experimental without being wack.
I wish both then nyggaz would stop trying to be elder statesmen and just stop a hot single on a contemporary beat for once. You can be mature and still make a song that doesn't try to reinvent music.
