In my opinion Will Smith was miscast as Muhammad Ali

I think he only got the role because he was a huge fan. Just look at this:

he doesn't look like him and he doesn't even sound like him. Sounds like he's making fun of him.

I can tolerate having someone that looks nothing like the character they're portraying if they can accurately mimick the mannerisms and sound of that person like Frank Langella in Frost/Nixon

The director was just horrible...I wish Spike Lee directed that...It had so much potential..

The movie would just go from scene to scene without any time stamps...Like a fight would occur and there was no on screen notification of the date or who he was fighting..

Ali might not have the deepest voice but he doesnt exactly sound effeminate like howard.And to play the part you need to have a spark and swag which Howard has never showed in his career

Terrence and Denzel look nothing like Ali, so right there is a major disadvantage. Will kind of sort of looks the part, definitely sounds more the part than those two could do without dubbing. Will was the most logical choice given black actor A list talent. They probably could have found a better lookalike definitely but the acting skills wouldn't have been on par.

Personally, I didn't care for the movie I don't hate it but I will never own the DVD and it has no replay value for me. Will Smith did a decent job imo, he's a fan of Ali you can tell it wasn't just a check to him, but if you have watched footage of the real Ali, you won't go "Yeah, that dude Will, nailed it 100% he's channeling Muhammad!"
