Canibus isn't wack but the more I relisten to a lot of his stuff the more :scust: I get at some of his songs. His pen game was never in question but some of those beats and his hook writing game was :trash:

2002-2011 Bis is seen as a clown, the battle with Disaster cemented his legacy.. deal with it :yeshrug:

I watch that battle from time to time, it never gets old :mjlol:
I'm always :dead: at the part where Dizaster says "What rhymes with Germaine Williams?

Random person in the crowd: "Never made millions" :krs:

the late 90s early 2000's Bis' capitalized off the nerdy/underground message board hype that was prevalent during those days. the using big words that dont make sense makes you a dope lyricist type shyt.. remember the Del's, the Eyedea's, the MC Nuclear etc.

People were so bent on going anti-commercial, since the Nelly's, Ja Rule's, Luda's etc were dominating that they went to the 'Alt-Left' of hip hop. Every message board was filled with cac's debating which nerdy rapper used more multi-syllable scientific words.

1996-1997 Canibus was kinda dope, but he morphed into a nerdy, try-hard nikka after that.

now that I got older and can use a dictionary, i can do the same stuff he was doing.:yeshrug:

Show me the big words in Beast from the East that you need a dictionary?

or How we Roll?

Canibus was nice and raw..

Did he fall off? Yes... Don't rewrite history man cuz he was nice at one point.

canibus was anti-lyrical, just rambling enyclopedia shyt. his delivery and flow was too aggresive for his p*ssy ass content. never ever was a fan, and knew who liked him where only online and likely white or surbanites. dudes would sooner rock petey pablo over canibus :yeshrug:

:francis: It's the holiday season. No negs between now and 1/1/17....:ohlawd:.

He's had some questionable albums at times. Matching production to his McGruff/Comic Book voice was always an issue. I have a love hate relationship with the first album, and its like the 2nd album was to bombastic, like the production was trying to overcompensate for the lack of "hardcoreness" on the 1st album. However, he's never been wack as a lyricist, if anything way ahead of the class.

I've told nikkas routinely that "How We Roll" is Canibus's best song. If Canibus had stayed like that he would've had a longer shelf life. "100 bars" was fire too. and of course he had great features.

He quickly fell off though.

i said after 2001 nikka

exactly.

He was getting trash before that but 2001 and after he was just unlistenable.

This is exact opposite of what Canibus did. Canibus had some bullshyt lines (like the Sea/animal shyt) but he's probably the best user of big words and making sense besides Ras Kass in rap history. He rapped like old Eminem, in that he was lyrical while making total sense at the same time, interweaving short stanzas of dope shyt throughout his verses

:scust:His debut

:snoop:All he needed was good beats

I wasn't really too surprised how his debut turned out back then. The while Canibus/Wyclef thing just never made sense.

If that album came out dope, he would have been the clear victor in the LL battle. 2nd round KO is the doper track imo, but shyt like that counts.
