this is correct. but since 90% of the league isn't winning a ring anyway, I would take a young, entertaining, hardworking squad that had financial flexibility and assets over whatever the fukk they are now.
its not Melo who is killing you guys tho, it was taking on Amare's contract and hot knees and not having any insurance on it.

I'm not mad at the Melo trade....it had to be done. This is a star driven league, they needed Melo. The Knicks problem started with Amare and many people said that when they first gave him 100m. If they never signed Amare and waited on Melo they would probably have a top tier PG by now, or in the hunt for D12.

I doubt Melo would have come here if they did not have Amare beasting in the first half

Melo didn't give a fukk about Amare....Melo came to New York because it's New York. He would have played with 4 retarded kids on the court if that meant he could play for a big market and get his money.
Yup, Melo was going to come here to play in front of all these angry knick fans with almost no stars saying they want to play here.

You guys need to be realistic. Amare being here was crucial. I think he would have picked the nets if Amare was not here tbh

He got everything he wanted. Play with a name, big money and big market. He could have had that with the nets if the knicks did not eliminate the risk

I didn't say he was the only reason, but he WAS a reason why.

To think otherwise is foolish. The knicks were battling the nets for basically being the clippers of the east. Nobody was coming here on their own, they only got Amare because they were the only ones who were willing to give him that contract.

Amare is the problem. Melo had a terrible season and I don't expect him to be any worse than he was this season. Amare also had a horrible year adjusting to Chandler and the death of his brother didn't help either. The thing about Amare is that he gets injured and always manages to bounce back. I sincerely expect Amare and Melo to have bounce back seasons next year with a full training camp, preseason, and coach that holds them accountable. They have too much talent now to be worse than a 4th seed.

i'll be honest as a knicks fan i really liked our team before the carmello trade. I also liked felton cuz of the way he defended and that pick and roll with him and amare was deadly. I dont think that squad was gonna win a championship; but neither is this squad with melo and amare. that amare signing was terrible cuz the knicks panicked when they realized none of the top free agents were coming; but it was better than signing joe johnson for the same deal which i heard was in the works. Honestly i dont know how the knicks get better

The ceiling with the Knicks team before Melo wasn't that high at all, making the playoffs consistently with that team would've been an acheivement, you had no choice but to try and shake things up with that roster. As far as the current Knicks roster, You can't ascertain the ceiling of this team until they at least get a full training camp with each other and get some games in with everybody healthy, what can't be debated though is the current Knicks roster is alot more talented than the previous one, so it's a needed step forward.
