when it comes to social issues lebron just follows but u have espn dikk riders call him trailblazin

it was derek rose who started i can't breathe t-shirt, but i see stephen a and espn wants to give credit to lebron

d wade started the hoodies after trayvon and lebron jumped on

tamir rice happens in your own hood as well as the 2 blacks who led police on a chase in cleveland ended up getting over 130 bullets put through their car and no response, but if someone like D rose brought it up first then he'll jump on the wagon

i'm not going to shyt on lebron totally because he does help out his hometown of akron, but somethings like this just stay away until or unless u have a strong enough teammate who can handle the press... damn sure kyrie isn't built for it

I hate that people expect and hold fukking athletes on a pedestal like they are needed to talk about things.
These folks have little ability to think outside of their sport, most of them have been spoiled and pampered their whole life.
These folks aren't and shouldn't be considered heroes

Heaven on Earth
:francis: Few weeks after blatantly lying & c00ning saying he doesn't know about Tamir Rice...

4 NBA superstars get on stage in front of an all white audience of their peers & asking for prayer, forgiveness, & unity :scust:

It took an irrelevant back QB to shake up the country & become a civil rights icon

It was embarrassing in the MOMENT..

I don't need hindsight

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
You can't expect the brons/wade/cp3 to
Speak up they have too much to lose. Bron has shown to be a follower so like @Mister Marcus said you need someone else (a big name but not megastar) to start it like Westbrook/lillard/rose

:stopitslime:

These guys have larger and guaranteed contracts, but youre claiming that they somehow have MORE to lose?

Just be honest and admit your blantant bias.

Yeah compared to what Kaepernick did it was embarssing

At the same time when that was done, I think that was considered outspoken to an extent

But I would remind people that Bron and Wade and the Heat took that photo of themselves all with hoodies after Trayvon Martin was shot and his death was just a local story in Florida, and they along with a lot of players wore those I can't breath shirts in solidarity to the Black Lives Matter movement and with Eric Garner's family. And you know this dude been able to outpower some of these CaC owners.

So yeah the ESPYs speech felt like a whole bunch of nothing and respectability politics, but you cant call him a c00n or playing safe like a Cam Newton, when he has been outspoken even if not to the extent of Kaep who took it to a different

This is more to do with Colin Kaepernick taking the most bold statement and challenging American establishment than anything. It shouldn't be used as a way to down Bron and the others when their past work has to be noted

Fair enough on these two points
I just wrote in the post above about how Bron at least participated in the Trayvon and Eric Garner protests on court and social media but I understand if other players did it first
Still, fair enough he joined and I sometimes feel question why we choose to diss other guys for not doing more than one guy did when it comes to take a stand. In my mind, as long as they say something no matter how big or small further influences the importance

Man those dudes are bullet proof. Black people need to learn their worth in this country. These corps need them and they will bend if we tell them to bend bc they love money more than they hate black people. Corps were lining up to boycott NC for that gay bill. Bron needs to be putting pressure on his sponsors to do the same thing. Bron is bullet proof stop saying he has a lot lose. There will be a line of sponsors around the block that will take the place of any that don't comply.

Take brons nuts out your mouth and think about it. Westbrook/rondo aren't trying to go into corporate world once their NBA careers are over. Bron has a brand and wants to be a billionaire so he's not gonna wanna ruin that goal. But if someone else starts it then he'll probably support them cuz he's not the "leader" that becomes villainized

Last post on this issue. I put it in wrong way. I agree with u he won't lose sponsors probably biggest name in sports and he can take stand without being hurt and Bron is already in the 1%. His goal now is to be 1% of the 1% and that's a whoooole different ball game.

I look at it as added benefit if they do, but it shouldnt be seen as a requirement.

If you got nothing useful to say/add I have no problem with you staying silent :manny:

On the subject of these dudes theyre all proud to be black, married to black women, and give back to their hometowns. Im OK with whatever they decide to do, as long as they dont pull a Cam :manny:

If you have something informed to add fine, but even then, these are athletes, outside of sports we need to remove them from the pedestals as if their presence is needed in anything.

Its not about a pedestal its about the platform. Theyre some of the most recognizable black celebrities around and their word carries media weight. Nothing heroic about it, just reality that its useful as Kap has shown.

I seriously wonder if The Coli was around in the 1960s when MLK was alive if you would be saying the same bullshyt you're always saying today.

Because MLK wasn't speaking that ignorant kill all cacs shyt you silly nikkas want to hear. He was speaking unity shyt you nikkas on here can't stand he didn't advocate violence as a retaliation either, was MLK a c00n? :stopitslime:

We'll just have to agree to disagree becuase to me its a pedestal.
You don't see jews, italians, mexicans, and other whites going out and people clamoring to hear what their athletes have to say, you hear from thinkers, lawyers, and people who make a living off their mental aptitude.

IMHO too many blacks settle for just famous people in situations like this instead of true thinkers. I disagree with him 90% of the time, but situations like this Dyson and West should be sought out to hear what they say. Not folks asking Cam's opinion, Jordan's opinion, or kaep's opinion.

Just my take.
