Kendrick as an artist is absolutely overhyped, but good.kid maad city is a top 25 album of all time, which certainly gets him a seat at the table let alone following up with TPAB and DAMNThis thread is depressing. Music died for me by 2010.
People have the audacity to think overhyped media chosen artists like Kendrick can really hold a candle to the greats.
I guess anyone can look like 2Pac in a sea of mediocrity.
Hip-hop was just fine in the 2010s it wasn't until we looked up one day and realized that Drake, J.Cole, and Kendrick had nobody to pass the baton to.

Breh, i was just about to add to this post. Just think about it:
We’ve got a Canadian biracial Jew cosplaying as an American “gangsta” one minute then a Jamaican dancehall artist the next. He’s the male Madonna just jumping on any trend. He’s been the biggest “HipHop” artist of the last ten years.
And I’m not hating on Kendrick, I think he’s a decent artist but let’s be real, Dr Dre hasn’t curated a true superstar since Eminem (he can’t take credit for 50 Cent).
The only people I see hyping up Kendrick are the pumpkin latte sipping alternative negros and CACs. His act is too contrived. “Oh look at me, I’m wearing slave chains at the Grammys. Now i’m impersonating Jesus.” Kanye already did it.
And I was in my 20s during the 2010s so no one can call me an old hater. The quality of music has declined so much. Adele, Taylor Swift, Harry fukking Styles?
