iTunes, Zune, Windows Media Player.....something else?

Have you noticed any of them do a better/worse job than the others?

I've used dBpoweramp for years:
dBpoweramp: mp3 Converter, CD Ripper, FLAC, Apple Lossless, WAV, AAC, AIFF. Fix album art, Asset UPnP Server

and use LAME encoder.

I encode at VBR -0 Extreme settings.

For Windows, get EAC/Lame. For Mac, get XLD, which has the Lame encoder built in.

Lame is the best mp3 encoder, and set up correctly, EAC and XLD will get you the securest rips for their respective OS.

This!! This is what the official warez group releases use.

I don't see the major difference between a high 320 vbr release and lossless flac. I would support flac but not every media player supports flac playback.

You will hear a difference when you got the sound gear to hear it. I say just start at lossless and reencode from there if you need it in another format

Wait so if I just have music on my computer that I'm mostly playing from my iPhone through an aux cord to my car system (kenwood radio with 12" subs) or beats by date studios. What should I do to have the best sound ?
