RB Adam Lane transferring from Florida
Adam Lane, the Florida running back best-known for his performance in the Birmingham Bowl, is no longer a member of the Gators' football program.
Coach Jim McElwain announced Sunday that Lane had been granted his release from the program.
"Adam Lane has some family issues that he is dealing with and wants to be closer to home," McElwain said. "As you've heard me say many times family comes first in this program and we will grant him his release and we will do everything we can do to help him."

Lane played most of the 2014 season in a reserve role for Florida. He ran for 109 yards on 16 carries in Florida's Birmingham Bowl win over East Carolina. After scoring a touchdown he had to go to to the locker room
for a change of pants after having an on-field accident.
He finished the 2014 season with 181 yards.
Lane was cited with teammate
Caleb Brantley for a misdemeanor on July 4. The two players allegedly went to a bowling alley
and left without paying for their food.
Kelvin Taylor is Florida's likely starter at running back in 2015. He'll be backed up by senior
Mark Herndon and freshmen Jordan Scarlett and Jordan Cronkrite.
