I live in Portland, the whitest major city in this country and the LGBTQs run DEEP out here and I've experienced a lot of overt and covert racism from them(and cacs in general out here)

matter of fact, more often than not when it comes to the history of the way this city and this state as a whole has treated black people the FIRST people trying to shut down any sort of convo about race are the LGBTQ crowd with their oppression olympics as a way to obfuscate and/or avoid legitimate concerns of the black community here.

it's also been my experience that Portland really only likes or accepts certain types of black men; the gay ones and/or the ones who aren't too strident in asserting their identity. for all it's so-called "progressiveness" you hear just as much "all lives matter shyt" out here from the white liberal left as you do from the right wing wingnuts.

there IS racism in the gay community and it's on par with that of the straight community

so when you say "white supremacists hate gays too" how do you account for the racist ass shyt myself and other black folks have experienced in places like Portland and San Francisco? white supremacy and homosexuality are not mutually exclusive. the same way feminism and white supremacy aren't mutually exclusive. folks gotta do better job analyzing types of oppression and the pitfall of all this talk of "intersectionality" is people lump shyt together that really has no business being so.

Portland is San Francisco and Portland have strength in numbers in the LGBT community but don't assume that means the rest of the city is cool with them.

There are still some real backwards cities out there but in general , its not acceptable to be outwardly racist anymore. All of those dinosaurs are dying off. People are still closet racists but a lot of people who are actually in favor of gay rights do so because of humanitarian reasons and don't actually like gay people. We saw the same shyt from the white northeners in the civil war, on some "treat them like people but keep them away from me" shyt.

For gay people, anyone who thinks they have it easy has either never met a gay person in real life or they've never been to high school. Or both.

We are straying from the path here. You're taking this to more of a historical level that no one here is arguing.

There is no stereotypical demographic for gay people. They're not a race and they're not concentrated in specific geographical areas. On average, they come from a middle class household, likely with 2 parents, and will likely attend some college. If you compare gay kids from that situation to straight black kids in those same conditions, who gets treated better?

These other facts and figures that get thrown into this are irrelevant to how people are actually TREATED. They are also skewed because of other factors. We all had Asian nerds in our classes who killed the curve on all the math tests. Does that mean that the tests are biased towards Asian children? Statistically, that argument can be made, but it would ignore the face that a lot of Asian kids actually suck at math but the ones in our neighborhoods were from successful families who pushed education at unhealthy levels. Any kid who has parents pushing them like that is going to score well in school. Race has nothing to do with it. But again, the stats will tell a different story.
