who has the better show right now

nxt or aew?

:manny:

I watch AEW live because the crowd atmosphere is just flat out better and that adds to the shows in a way people aren't noticing yet.

DVR NXT but I'll usually catch the ending angle/match overrun.

Both shows have shyt that is change the channel status (Nightmare Collective, Forgotten Cacs, Shawn Spears, The homeless neckbeard that was in the fatal 4 way no 1 contender match, etc.)

I cant really put one over the other because in terms of NA wrestling programming, they're 1A and 1B.

AEW is more of a wrestling show (entertainment, fukkery, comedy)

NXT is great for very athletic choreographed spots and wrestlers putting on really great matches

but AEW has a guy named “Luchasaurus” and he’s not even the wackiest character :mjlol:

it’s better television :manny:

NXT more consistent with the matches and got a way better women's division but AEW got more fukkery on top of great matches, plus the presentation on another level so I gotta go with them.

It's hard to say because throughout the time that NXT has gone live, they've had about 4 major overlapping events occur.

The build to War Games overlapping with the build to Survivor Series.

They currently have the build to the next Takeover overlapping with the build to Worlds Collide, while starting up the Dusty Tag Classic.

In that time, they've built Keith Lee and Rhea Ripley to superstar status (and even lesser stars like Priest, Swerve, Io, etc) but have been without Velveteen Dream and Johnny Gargano due to injuries for a better part of the time they've been on live TV. They've also done a great job with The Undisputed Era prophecy and the reign of Cole, the Team Kick breakup, heel Balor, and the cruiser scene.

Once they can slow down and focus on one build to one big event, we'll really see.

AEW's been amazing. Hit or miss, of course (that's show business) but they hit firmly when they do hit. They're just now genuinely starting to tell deeper stories leading to Revolution. Full Gear was more like, "I deserve to fight you, so let's fight." This current build is more like, "I'm fed up and this is personal."

It's a push for me. We'll see.

NXT is the better show. I watch both but AEW hasn’t found its groove yet imo. They need to work on their storyline pacing. It feels like this Cody/MJF thing has been going on forever. I like having quarterly ppv because it gives storylines time to build, but I think they definitely fumbled the pacing. The butcher and blade stuff could have went a little longer. Have them actually pin Cody and build them up as legitimate threats. Since they rushed it, now there jobbers. That was one example. I like long term builds, but outside of Jericho and to a lesser extent page/omega, their storyline pacing is one of their weak spots. The in-ring stuff is good for the most part. They just need to work on making sure spots aren’t too choreographed. There are some talents, like Private Party, that needs more seasoning. Wrestling one day a week isn’t going to help. Maybe having AEW talent wrestle each other at HOG, PWG, or some other company.

As far as NXT, where they are at the moment they are fine for the most part. If they move out of full sail, they are in trouble. They aren’t sports-entertainment to grow an audience more than what they have or to to go to arenas every week. I think 1M viewers is going to be their peak. If they leave full sail, I think they would run in similar places that ROH tapes their shows.

Overall for me, they aren’t competing with each other. They run head-to-head but they are on two different levels. AEW competes against raw and smackdown. NXT competes against ROH,MLW, and shows on that level. AEW competes with Smackdown for my #2 favorite show of the week

AEW is new and better. NXT is a bit too dark for me. AEW is fun because it is creative and some of the matches are really good.
NXT has the lights out in the crowd and a dull yellow color scheme. If it were produced in a bigger arena, It'd be better but seeing AEW in full arenas and lively crowds always will win

NXT has consistently had the better matches. I've been entertained by AEW from most of the shows I've seen, but they have their ups and downs unlike NXT's constant ups. One thing, the crowds on both shows are great. NXT's can be annoying sometimes with trying to get themselves over instead of just enjoying the matches, and AEW's is always amped up unless it's a Nightmare Collective or Shawn Spears match.
