When the business model showed rap could generate millions and the rinse repeat model of the recording industry was applicable to the same group of people. Every genre of contemporary black music has been raped and pillaged the same way,from blues to jazz,from reggae to hip hop. As long as the culture of disenfranchisement creates it's narrative through expression,there will be vultures to circle the sky, waiting for the inevitable moment were the worth of said expression has te be determined by the same vultures. So of course we're left with scraps and bones. As long as you don't get to decide your own worth,you're not in control of the outcome.

That's when the media started taking notice and all the companies wanted a "rap" commercial or some kind of Hip Hop reference to reach out to demographics they hadn't even acknowledged before. Hollywood started making mad breakdancing movies and everywhere you looked, there was some kind of rapping dog or cartoon character. Fred Flintstone deejaying and rapping and sh*t like sitcom previews throwing in rapping intros for the promos. It was on ever since.
