Expect at least $200 but it depends on the person and how complicated your tax situation is. You can only claim your daughter if the mother allows because usually whoever keeps the child the full year has the right to claim them. If you don't have any businesses or investments it's best to use Turbo Tax and keep it moving.

I've only used that free online tax in the past, but someone told me once it's always good to use a pro because they will always know ways to get you more back than the free sites.

If you don't have any write-offs then the person preparing your taxes is just lying and it may or may not catch up to you. The one thing you should do is start a small business...sole proprietorship. Sell something on ebay or run errands for the elderly. SOMETHING. That way you can have write offs. When that happens you should get a tax professional.
