So I live in the Metro Atlanta area and I "own" a home about 20 miles outside of the city. Now the property values in my area are maybe slightly above average, but the neighboring city has houses of pretty much the same caliber of mine, but that are worth 30-50k more than mine. What I've found is that the major driving factor for their higher property values is being in a school district for one of the best high schools in the area.
So a thought came to mind... people should really take more time working and volunteering with the schools in their area, even if it's for selfish reasons. We have new developments here that specifically advertise being in that school's district. This is an organic way of really improving the areas in which we live by improving the schools any increasing the perceived value and benefit of living in our neighborhoods.
