They are all Black female artists with their brand affected by mainstream social media.

She knew exactly what the impact of her statement would have.

She is entitled to her opinion...I think she's publicly judging 2 celebrities at the height of their popularity...which is suspect and pathetic.


She's old and irrelevant in today's music.

I think she's jealous because these women are able to influence the culture more than she can...with free sexuality that she does not and can never have.

Don't get me wrong. I love India Arie's music.

She's a homely Neo Soul artist.

She needs to stay in her lane. Promote other artists that she considers more "presentable" if she cares so much about R&B's "image".

India Arie is 47 years old. She has no relevant music for about 5 years. She's a beautiful songwriter and guitarist...But she is not sexually attractive or sensual in any way.

Jealous Auntie energy.

She uses these young women's performances to steal 15 mins of relevance.

It's cheap and pathetic.

Call out Sexyy Red... Call out Cardi B... by name. Every thot rapper by name.

Janelle Monae is a performer. She can make whatever music and images she wants.

Art evolves all the time. She can go back to dressing like Ask Jeeves and some people will then complain how she's killing artistic expression.

She can have a private conversation with these women.

Stop singling them out and trying to make an example out of them.

Better yet...put out some quality music and visual art to advance the craft.

People forget that Outkast was still making music when Janelle came out. That was before the “tuxedos” It’s not her fault that people didn’t care back then. I see more people mad at Janelle for this stuff now and they never talked about her career before. I think about back when I actually met Janelle when she was doing her Electric Lady run.. the damn DJ played the song that she did with Badu and when it got to the part where Janelle raps, he was like “who knew Janelle could rap?” Ummmm her fans they heard all her music smh.
