Bruh, I've been to several Essence Festivals dating back to the early 2000s. It has always been a mix of age-appropriate/family oriented acts with sexually explicit artists. I remember one where R. Kelly literally brought out a damn bed on stage and started simulating sex while singing. 30 minutes later Frankie Beverly was on talking about some "joy and pain" . All this pearl clutching is revisionist nonsense. People know what they're getting when they go.
