A forum full of progressive-relativists passing judgment on another culture.

how dare you make the suggest that fair treatment of women is a moral absolute!!!!!

Progressives can't even consistently apply their own moral theory.

Who here is a relativist? Who here is caping for ISIS and the caste system?

Modern progressivism is based on relativism.

So is the communist manifesto. Karl Marx said that man and his Morality is a product of the society he lives in. There are no objective facts about morality in the manifesto. Did you even read it?

Moral absolutism is a highly conservative stance, which I doubt any of you agree with. For one, you probably all think stealing food is okay when one is poor.

Tell me more about how Marx's argument against capitalist culture of greed is also an arguement for class based legal rape.

Here's Engels argument for relativism. This is the bullshyt you believe in. stand by it.

Anti-Dühring by Frederick Engels 1877 Part I: Philosophy

"
We therefore reject every attempt to impose on us any moral dogma whatsoever as an eternal,
ultimate and for ever immutable ethical law on the pretext that the moral world, too, has its permanent principles which stand above history and the differences between nations
. We maintain on the contrary that all moral theories have been hitherto the product, in the last analysis, of the economic conditions of society obtaining at the time. And as society has hitherto moved in class antagonisms, morality has always been class morality; it has either justified the domination and the interests of the ruling class, or ever since the oppressed class became powerful enough, it has represented its indignation against this domination and the future interests of the oppressed. That in this process there has on the whole been progress in morality, as in all other branches of human knowledge, no one will doubt. But we have not yet passed beyond class morality. A really human morality which stands above class antagonisms and above any recollection of them becomes possible only at a stage of society which has not only overcome class antagonisms but has even forgotten them in practical life. And now one can gauge Herr Dühring’s presumption in advancing his claim, from the midst of the old class society and on the eve of a social revolution, to impose on the future classless society an eternal morality independent of time and changes in reality. Even assuming — what we do not know up to now — that he understands the structure of the society of the future at least in its main outlines."

if there are no moral absolutes, then you have no right to judge these Indians.

Testing moral theories means taking to the extreme.

I was once a devote utilitarianism until someone pushed my limits to extreme. They asked me if I would rape a baby to save 1000 people. I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do it to save 1 million people. I rejected utilitarianism after this.

Read your quote and think of the context of what you're saying here. The reason these women are sentenced to being raped is because their brother(remember the concept of nuclear family is something Marx/Engels rejected in the first place) had sex with a married women of a higher caste. This is something that is being carried out at least semi legally.

This is the exact type of class based morality meant to oppress that Engels rejects in that exact quote. This is a disingenuous argument you're making. There isn't a universal morality only because people have been wrongly divided up and set against each other, each creating a special set of morals meant to protect the men of privilege in every fiefdom.

Engels, said clear as day, that moral absolutes do not exist outside of man, and they are not eternal. His account for how those morals developed in history is matter of his opinion. as it stands, before a utopian classless society exists, according to him, there are NO moral absolutes that govern all differing nations. Since we don't live in a global classes society, there are no moral absolutes to communists.

I reject that notion that morality was setup to protect higher classes.

Morality exists even in the tribes of Papua New guinea where stealing is punished by death. In those islands, Wars are fought over "Women, land and pig" in other words: coveting and property rights. Even in that most basic communal society, moral absolutes, similar to ours, exist.

If you don't believe in moral relativism, are you prepared to call those Indians' culture inferior to the western (white man) developed culture and theories of philosophy?

Will you say that some cultures are inferior to others? Or that Western European socialism is the superior system globally? Is white always right to you?

are those African villages that still burn witches alive inferior to the White Man's European Union?

You're really gonna stand here and tell me that Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels would support the rape of two women because their brother had sex with a higher caste women? You're really going to say this?

I don't cape for European law. I dont need religion or Marx or law to tell me rape is wrong.

How do you value, as a punishment, raping women for somebody else's "fault" ? Do you think it's fair game as a human being ?
