It's just a disqualifier to discredit a rapper someone doesn't like. Every famous rapper that has ever existed, I mean really famous, was backed by the industry. Do people really sit around like "You know I really like this song but this rapper is a suspected industry plant so I'm not going to listen to it" ? It's funny cause people think they're not allowing mainstream to influence them by not listening, one way or another they're still deciding what you're going to listen to.

I don't agree with this, there's rappers I'm not fans of I don't consider industry plants. Backed by the industry is different from being a plant in the context we are using. There's plenty of hugely famous rappers that aren't industry plants and even more rappers that are that are famous that aren't. There's numerous artists around that aren't really BACKED by the industry like that either, even if their label has a distribution deal or something. They may be eating off them in some form, but that doesn't mean they were PUT into the position by them. I don't listen to any artists who have that vibe . I know the mainstream doesn't, or anybody really, influence what I listen to, in a brainwashing sense at least, I listen to what I like , for enjoyment purposes anyway, check a lot of shyt for research even if I don't like it.

industry plants are real. a good example of one is j cole. his mom was in the music biz and had ties with def jam. she always had the plan to get him a deal with jayz. none of his mixtapes were ever organic, they were crafted by top ppl in the rap industry. nikkas don't even realize they're being forced fed the rappers they like. smh

:leon:

i knew he was a plant, but i didnt know his mom was in the industry.

ok thats cool.

We're assuming being an industry plant is bad right? Why cause of the industry? Ok so then ever rapper superstar used the industry to reach notoriety. Not liking an artist because a label has put money behind them is one of the stupidest reasons to not like someone. If you only listen to artist that aren't signed then labels are dictating what you're listening to. Like you said just listen to what you like all the other stuff is pointless.

:comeon:

sounds more like NEPOTISIM

basically he got Family that can look out for him

happens in EVERY INDUSTRY :manny:

I guess I was an INDUSTRY PLANT when I was younger cause my older brother put in a good word for me at Home Depot :snoop:

:russ:

J Cole ain't the first.....

Jermaine Dupri daddy was a big time MUSIC EXEC at MCA

and BERRY GORDY son Rockwell not only got signed but was able to get Michael Jackson to sing the hook on his ONLY HIT

so it's basically favor for a favor

but without TALENT it ain't gonna work REGARDLESS HOW CONTRIVED IT MAY SEEM

and J COLE has talent

I think where we're differing is definitions. I'm not saying someone supported by the industry, you're certainly correct that most huge artists are supported by the industry. I'm specifically talking about certain artists that have been planted there for a specific purpose.
