I love how you guys are saying this like all milennials know HTML or can work a Linux program while simultaneously acting like most of Gen-Z are lost when using a computer:dead:

They're not talking about about that.... they're talking about their inability to understand/recognize the tools/systems they have to complete tasks.

A lot of them only understand that things work...not what makes them work.

Not going to front, Gen X and early Millenials kissed the ring.

Late Millenials and Gen Zers basically said this was dumb af.

In a few years their impact will really be felt for the best, for all Americans.

Job-hopping, openly discussing salary, remote or nothing, etc. and being so upfront about it basically blew up the spot regarding the sham about "Loyalty", "being professional", "working hard", etc. Basically the shyt nobody was enjoying and was unnecessary.

Literally said cut the crap, "fukk you, Pay me."

:mjlol:

None of that has anything to do with late Millennials and it damn sure has nothing to do with Gen Z.

All of this became common place due to covid. That's it. The pandemic hit, everything shut down, people of all demographics quit their jobs in historic numbers, and WFH became a necessity.

Fast forward a few months later, and nobody wants to return to work. They either quit, or experienced WFH and weren't willing to go back to how things were. Which gave them leverage to discuss work conditions, salary, etc.

Attributing this to Gen Z is especially hilarious because they aren't even old enough to demand anything you're talking about. Everyone I know that did what you're saying, is older Millennials and Gen X. People that actually had clout, for lack of a better word, because they were integral to where they worked, and most had been there for years.

You're only talking about remote work though, fair enough regarding that point - that was more so the pandemic than anything. However, more older people wanted to return to office than younger people though.

Additionally, these record-breaking salaries for juniors and first-time employees making more than 10-year seniors is absolutely a newer generation thing. Teamblind and these subreddits openly discussing these things weren't around like that.

While people did job hop previously, it was never on this level out in the open and bold.

Sounds like more right wing/boomer garbage.

"We require a degree and five years of experience for an entry level job that doesn't pay a livable wage! Don't like it? Tough! :jawalrus:"

"WHY DOESN'T ANYONE WANT TO WORK ANYMORE?! :damn:"

Man....fukk THEM BOOMERS!!

Glad that Gen Z got it right and whipping the ass of the workforce, at a time when the Baby Boomers are retiring. Gen Y could have learned a thing or 2 about sticking it to low-paying jobs and overtly stressful careers that still underpay their workers.

Gen Z kinda trash....they just wanna chill on tech all day and do nothing...

When they baby boomers are gone from the workforce and Gen Y and Z are the only ones left that are relatively young, is when things will change for the better. 4 day workweeks, WFH, AI with better teaching skills than most human teachers and college professors, and strictly regulated housing prices will be a thing.

:smugbiden:

They will revolt even harder on some Summer 2020 protests :francis:

That is not a scenario you want. Gen Z ain't with the low wage life.

So the jig is not up and you are doing ok by having a skilled craft. You don’t say. That’s the whole point of the discussion. Prob took some effort into developing that skill. That’s what these young folks don’t want to do

Pay that skilled worker fairly, and no one would rebel :aicmon:

Nah, they just ain't falling for the okie doke from the corporate propaganda telling them to work til they drop. They recognize that they are having to get into debt at 18 for a chance to get a low paying job that won't pay enough. They can't even enjoy a day off without worrying if their job will be seen as redundant when they come back, never mind getting affordable healthcare or a home. When the game is rigged, the only way to win is not to play.

People want to work for financial security and time outside of work to find fulfillment with their money, not bullshyt plaques to put in their cubicle and pizza parties. Nobody on their deathbed is going to be like "Shyt, I wish I worked more to make the shareholders more cash for their new yacht." We all got one life to live, if you are content spending every waking hour revolving around your job, more power to you. Just don't try to push your mental illness on others.

Alot of these boomers and some Gen Xs have dogshyt lives outside of their office or if they are a manager, allow a bullshyt job title that could get snatched from them in a instance inflate their heads. Their office is their home. Their coworkers are their family. They are essentially rudderless zombies propped up by what some CEO tells them to justify getting fukked for low pay.

Some baby boomer had their mother recently passed away. Instead of taking time off, they willing to double down on work :dahell:

If that is the life that is expected of me in another 25 to 30 years from now, I have nothing out of it.

I agree with this. Being from Florida I’m starting to realize that a lot of people willing to spend half their life in their car and half their life on their couch in the Name of another person’s company, are insane in some aspect, and don’t want better for their lives because they don’t even really understand what a good lived, natural life is.everything to them is about convenience , and after visiting Japan I’ve even realized they don’t even have true convenience here either

One thing I'll add is that we need to stop collectively putting the sins of millennials on Gen Z.

As much as we say Gen Z are entitled, want everything for nothing etc. etc. it fails to remove the articles bytching about how zoomers won't spend money and how they're checking out of relationships.

This living beyond one's means is something we millennials must take ownership of. We're the ones who place value on materialistic things like expensive holidays, expensive clothes, expensive dates. It is that way because we kind of follow the expectations from a generation that grew up in a time where their money went further.

I agree. I became a minimalist after a few years of getting good money in 1 gig. No need to slave away your youth for a Beamer or Benz for someone to 1-up you with a Rolls Royce. Live BELOW your means with a good paying gig, and fukk these employers.

The folks actually learning skills are in the workforce leveraging those skills. The generalizing is for those who feel like they can get by long term without entering the workforce or honing any skills. In for quite the awakening once reality sets in and the machine they tried to rage against grinds them to bits.

And still working for under the pay they deserve?

Thank God Gen Z stood up and barked at these employers, so now you got fast food jobs paying people $14 to $18 an hour Down South and everyone else forced to raise pay. If people still think like you in the post-pandemic world, there still would be jobs that would pay $9 an hour.
