I was telling my girlfriend what I truly believe is going on, especially since there is precedence at the state level for this in the pas. I think that this is a bigger version of the "self-deportation" idea being enacted by this administration at the federal level.

I think every bit of dysfunction and terribleness you're seeing with this child separation is intentional. Even the stuff that seems like administrative errors or bureaucratic red tape. Make life so hellish for illegal immigrants, they will go back to where they came from and even help spread the word that America isn't where you want to go.

If people lose their kids in the process, all the better to sow fear among those who think about migrating here in the future.

I mean, with the frequency at which they say "Go back to your country, we don't want you here!" it's not at all far fetched.

And as stupid as it is, it's almost logical.
