“'Inside the NBA,' the show that everybody loves, has done more damage to the NBA the last decade than anything.” -Jason McIntyre

Shaq and Charles have been joking or trashing the NBA since they both been on the air.
They were more balanced back in the days. The last 3-4 years they've been on a cankerous run with a vendetta against the league. Kind of coincided with all the big contracts being doled out like candy. I also argued way back that the ring chasing, team hopping, and the formation of the Big 3's started when Shaq got on TNT and started ripping Barkley to death about him being ring-less on nearly every episode. All the current superstars -Bron, KD, etc.-panicked, didn't want to wind up like Chuck, and jumped ship to new squads.

But now folks want to point out that it's a problem because the product is finally reached its unwatchable status. So they're looking for a scapegoat.

The NBA is clearly in its post Infinity War stage like the MCU is.

Do Shaq and Charles make them shoot 40 3's a game?
Do they make guys load management?
Do they make guys give a SHYT All-star game performance? And dunk contest?
Did they make James Harden at his peak and his prime dribble the ball for 20 seconds and flop every 2 minutes and foul-bait?
Did they make Mike D'Antoni somehow be hired multiple times?
Do they make everyone imitate Steph Curry only to bomb epically while continually chucking threes?
Did they make Zion Williamson not give a damn about his career?
Did they make Ben Simmons basically turn into a shell of himself?
Or Joel stay in the ER?
Or make guys not have play defense or come out of shape?
Did they make Ja post up guns multiple times?
Do they make the Wizards, Hornets, Pelicans consistently out ass teams on the court?

But somehow two dudes that have been retired for 35 years combined are the problem :mjlol:
You could do a list like this with every league but their coverage and commentary shows will only get into it if they're forced to and have to address like when Kaep was kneeling and white America went ape shyt and ballistic. The NFL wouldn't even address the bad quarterback play non development of QB's until Brady spoke up about it. That's how rare it is for them, but its a daily thing for the NBA.

I don't mean any disrespect, but I think the analogy you used about Infinity War and Marvel is all the more fitting of why there's this disconnect.

Some of y'all see the NBA as some comicbook, with superheros who transcend the game of basketball and y'all are continuing to search for that feeling, when you're at a stage in your lives when that's not going to happen. It's only unwatchable to some of y'all because it's not the same as it was, not because it's a worse product than what y'all grew up watching.

It's just different.

There were people that grew up on the 60s/70s and during periods of the 80s, that found the 90s unwatchable because it didn't resonate with them. I know the rule changes to allow smaller players to dominate with the illegal defense rules didn't sit too well with that generation of NBA fans. They felt as though the game was becoming more a guard-orientated league. I know the diluting the talent with the expansion didn't sit too well with that generation of NBA fans either.

You put social media back then, and y'all would've had a whole lot of negativity about the product too.

Stopped fukking with that show cause none of them actually watch basketball and they have some straight minstrel show shyt on their.

A fat black man who can't say any word with more than 3 syllables trying to guess what team a player plays on cause he never watches the game and a white guy next to him laughing asking "who he play fo"? Should just put a necklace of bananas around Barkley neck at that point.

Ernie whole spiel about Kap when all the kneeling shyt was happening and Trump first term showed me who he is behind closed doors. Hopefully the next time he gets cancer the cancer wins.

As if Bill Simmons and Stephen A didn't help in that regard.

:mjlol:

Bill Simmons tried to erase player's legacies to prop up guys he likes because he's a homer. Stephen A... you already know.

As comedic as they get on Inside, they have some valid criticism on there.

When you remember the NBA product is entertainment the show makes more sense.

Barkley gets a salute for this always.

What entertainment show advocates to not have the fans of the league they rep to NOT show up for the playoffs?

What for entertainment purposes NFL or MLB show do you know has ever done that?
