Hip Hop was robbed of the original RZA produced uncontrolled substances that was lost in the flood

A 95-97 deck solo would've been instant classic

One of the two great travesties in hip hop. The other was when Q-Tip lost his stuff in a fire.

When I was a kid I thought "The City" was the best rap song ever for a few weeks, lol, dead ass. The marriage of the perfect gritty beat with the perfect gritty verses, that shh!t had my young mind somewhere else bro, that's the best song on Wu Forever imo. I know I'm in the minority, it's all good lol. Rainy night in SI, ominous sounding shh!t, crazy.

This. One of the greater tragedies in hip hop. Not just for Deck though. Hundreds of lost beats and material. That flood changed the course for a lot of them.
You can tell when Deck was on Vlad TV talking about that flood and losing the album how it really altered and hurt his career.. He looked sad talking about it for a minute. We lost a Rza prime Wu Classic when they lost all of those beats and Deck suffered the most IMO.

Deck was always better suited to a group role rather than solo. He good for a hot 16 but could never hold a song down by himself.

If anything, the whole mythos of the flood has only added to his reputation. In reality, he was never interesting enough to really carry a classic solo. At best he would've dropped an Ironman level album....borderline classic but it would be carried by features and RZA production.

FACTS.

The "flood" excuse was only used by Wu members who didn't drop classic or dope albums. It's like Ghost said that time, "I don’t care about no flood. I'm gonna make the album I wanna make". All that "I had a classic album, but I lost it in the flood" sh*t was a cop-out.

Meth started that because Tical was weak and didn't meet expectations. Thing is, 32 years later, and Meth still ain't got no classic solo albums. So this whole flood nonsense was always bullsh*t.

I see what you are saying but I wouldn't call Ironman a borderline classic! That album was dope.. Production on a different level, Ghost held it down and as you said the features were also on point. If it was on that level I would take it! I guess we will never know though but if anything we get another album of Prime Rza beats and Deck with some guest Wu verses so that was always something to check out.

I wonder what beats Rza lost in the flood though because that was prime Rza? Damn I would love to hear those.

Whether I agree or not I still would love to hear some of those prime Rza instrumentals that were lost in that flood because around that time Rza was on some next shyt dropping straight fire.

That being said Gza had a classic and the production was NICE, Dirty did and Raekwon along with Ghost so I can see your angle as well! They recovered and dropped some timeless music as far as their albums go so honestly you do bring up a good point. I liked Tical but it was not on the level of the ones I mentioned especially on the boards! So yes Rza recovered and dropped GEMS after that so true.
