I hate thinking about this. To me RZA from 93-97 is by far the greatest run any rap producer has ever had. I remember the first time I heard about all the music he lost during that era and my heart just sunk. Why would a benevolent creator allow this :mjcry:

I always envisioned Deck’s first album to be sort of a play off of Liquid Swords. Similar concept with the movie skits with a theme & Deck’s theme playing off the “Neighborhood Spider-Man.” I can only imagine the beats that were stored away for a Deck album planned for 95-96 release :ohlawd:

I still think rza sounded incredible. Deck said himself in older interviews he wasn't an advocate for himself in the early days so he got passed up for a lot ofshyt.

it was a great run, but not so fast. Marley Marl from 88-92 had

Take a look around
Mama said knock you out
Road to the riches
Long live the kane
Goin off

And a bunch of other good albums not seen as classics but dope, and production on albums

Rza had

Enter the 36
Tical
Return to the 36
iron man
liquid swords
cuban linx
wutang forever

Marley is a pioneer and an icon, I love the juice crew and bump the albums G Rap, Kane, and Tragedy made with Marley regularly, so this is not at all me trying to talk down on him. But to me RZA's run smokes Marley, easily. Different strokes :yeshrug:

Facts that's why I wouldn't have continued, one flood would have been enough of a warning for me.
If the show is to be believed, a pipe bursted.

Its easy to say bring it up stairs but when ya creating on the spot with 15 heads around, smoking, drinking, loud music, the basement makes sense.

It was multiple floods though, the first one would have been enough for me to either bring my set up stairs, maybe create down there but bring the files up stairs or just all out go to another studio. Either way changes would be made I wouldn't just leave all my shyt down there again.

At the end of the day as breh said and as I've witnessed basements are prone to flooding, it's a risk you take with a basement set up. Flooding is a long term issue so once I seen that basement flood I would always store my actual files up stairs. If I needed to bring stuff down to finish it or for artist to rap and vibe to I'd do that but would never leave anything down there without being present to ensure no flooding was there.

Having a basement is a double edged sword. No matter what you can always have a flood especially if the slump pump fails
Not having a basement is even worse.

But all you really gotta do is keep your equipment and get WR outlets up high. As long as you snake your basement once a year and take down any trees around your drain line then you should be fine.

Usually that happens on the main floors too but cut the damn heat up. Or switch to pex pipe and get that galvanized bs outta there (probably didn’t have plastic pipe in the 90’s)
