The flood was devastating.

But you couldn't do anything for deck?

His solo came out in 1999 with 3 rza beats 😅

It was multiple floods though, the first one would have been enough for me to either bring my set up stairs, maybe create down there but bring the files up stairs or just all out go to another studio. Either way changes would be made I wouldn't just leave all my shyt down there again.

At the end of the day as breh said and as I've witnessed basements are prone to flooding, it's a risk you take with a basement set up. Flooding is a long term issue so once I seen that basement flood I would always store my actual files up stairs. If I needed to bring stuff down to finish it or for artist to rap and vibe to I'd do that but would never leave anything down there without being present to ensure no flooding was there.
I mean i get ya man 100% and agree and i myself have 2 setups for the same reason.
2 setups or move back n forth is 100% the way now but it aint like a usb keybord or flash drive today. Its bulky heavy ass equipment , one mistake its broke, portability isnt really an option. I mean today ya talking a laptop and speakers, back thenya talking bringing up heavy ass samplers/mixers/turntables/speakers up and down. If you editing privatley hed need all of it but since it seems he liked to make beats with people around versus in private in early days so i understand why it was down away from everyone. In wu mansion era you see he has a private atudio in his room and one for the guys.

the pipe bursting seems like extra act of god on top of everything. The roof coulda collapsed and same shyt happened or fire. Window coulda broke and rain bust in the room. Ya never know which way itll go.

But it was 100% lack of foresight not backing up his floppy disks or not making any copies. Having ya lifes work with no backup to me is crazy.

Put ya hammer down was sposed to be on it but was used as promo for flex album after the delay in 98.

Semi auto as well but by 99 was too old.

Tres leches went to pun to get deck on that album in 98 as well prolly same thing as put ya hammer.

Nightshift by true mast getting cut a long with beats like these, it was too much

Put your hammer down was my favorite track on that Flex joint. Gza used the same verse on it from "cross my heart" Killah Priest track and Deck used his verse from "American cream team". I never knew Put your hammer down was a Deck track. He really got screwed. Cuz that was better than everything on his debut.

Yea i didny kno wither until i read an old wu site through archive that brought up the source saying the track was meant for uncontrolled because deck got pushed back. Def fits sonically. They def didnt do enough to make up for 1/3 of the album not even making it.

I know it was made forever era. I guess once they saw it wasnt gonna be used or used elsewhere they used verses on other tracks. I did notice that as well them both using the verses on other features in 98
