because when I was growing up, all you had were magazines. That's how we kept up with celebs...Source, Vibe (the big issues lol), XXL, WordUp, etc...They seemed like gods to us back then.
Now you look on IG/FB or whatever and see 2Chainz or Young Durk or whatever their names are eating a Krispy Kreme doughnut and say "they eat at the same places I do" or you see them filming themselves playing video games or smoking loud and you tell yourself that you "know" these people cuz they do what you do...
Social media gave people a view that wasn't there. Thus ANYBODY connected with celeb life seems to be a star. Now Drake can openly "get at" that stripper he saw at Strokers...or that was able to get near his dressing room after his concert. Everybody (i'm generalizing b/c I couldn't care less lol) is so intrigued by that lifestyle, these "shows" just cater to that. You'll watch b/c you feel like that could be YOU. "If I just could hit Nikki Minaj" or if "I could let Chef Keef hit (pause) I can be just like them" is what people convince themselves...
.....now just being linked to a famous guy turn these hos into celebs.
